And my favorite lines are: "Some people without brains do a lot of talking".

Then later when the monkeys have torn everyone apart:

Scarecrow: They took my arms off and threw them over there. Then they took my legs off and threw them over there."

Lion: Well, that's you all over.

I never considered it a musical, but rather a movie with songs in it. There is a difference to me. It is certainly adult in many places. I had a neighbor who had never seen it either. Y'all people might as well have two heads and three eyes, but that makes as much sense to me as someone who has never watched The Wizard of Oz.

Some of the best movies ever made are "children's movies".

The best movie of all time is The Wizard of Oz takes Mary Poppins to visit Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS. I love Technicolor.

Especially the contrast between black and white of Kansas and the vivid colors of Oz. wink

You know, looking at it there are a lot of intriguing characters in the film. Almost all have weaknesses which make them endearing.

My answer is the Cowardly Lion. Very Snagglepuss. The fearsome start and the reverse when Dorothy and Toto scare him is a classic introduction.

I think Dorothy is the most well rounded and her concern for others is touching, so she comes close. The Wizard is fascinating more as an adult, looking at the facades people build up (I liked Franco and what he did with Oz the Great and Powerful).

To threadjack for a moment, I just want to acknowledge the amazing job Michael Jackson did as the Scarecrow did in The Wiz, with the tenderness and vulnerability, the way he was stuffed with quotes form Socrates etc, and of course, the way he eased on down the road, you can't win etc.

If you haven't heard about it, you must read about the alleged infamous escapades of the munchkins lol

Thanks PurpleThunder. Never heard those rumors, likely cause although I DO like the film, I've never actually read into it much. Just bits on the paint used for the witch, theories about its commentary on capitalism and the federal reserve. ..the "all we own, we owe" debated chant etc.

Slave2daGroove

This is my favorite movie of all time. As time goes on people tend to give me a hard time about that but I don't care.
.
My favorite character is the Wizard, also the hustler who Dorthy is talking to before the Tornado and the doorman at the Emerald City. The way he talks always made me think of Paul Lynde. Scarecrow is a close second for the reason mentioned earlier here...
