The "I'm So Sick of the Slow US Economy" Thread Is anyone else as fed up with the economy in the U.S. as I am? I know we're in the midst of a war, but damn, there are so many people out of work who can't even find a decent job in their field, so they take whatever they can find just so that they can have money coming in.
Then there's the place I work at, where we have not had raises in over two years, which really pisses me off, because management keeps telling us that we're losing money, blah, blah, blah, but the people that I work for keep geting all this special perks, like a big full-page ad in a local paper congratulating the top brokers for a successful year (which cost the company over $7,000), a big dinner and night on the town for these same brokers, special recognition plaques, the list goes on. I guess the management thinks that the support staff are a bunch of dummies who don't know anything and that we're not going to catch on. Anybody feel me on this? I know bitching about it won't change things, but I just had to get this out. [This message was edited Mon Apr 14 6:16:59 PDT 2003 by psychodelicide] RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I feel you. The economy might just turn the next president out of office. The sad thing is, most people want more of the same poison that is causing the problem--an enormous tax wedge. Fear is the mind-killer.

I'm working in a non-profit...it's been a rough year of crossing our fingers and hope we don't have to eliminate jobs due to state/federal budget cut-backs... yuck

Only two responses? I'm sure the economy has effected all of us in some way, or to someone we know. If so, feel free to share your story. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

My stock portfolio has lost 80% of its value. I won't be retiring anytime soon. Fear is the mind-killer.

it's kept me from looking for a job in my field of study after graduation (going on a year now). but, had i gotten a "real" job straight out of the gate, things in my life might have gone quite differently. as it is, i wouldn't have changed a thing.

It sucks. When I returned to college to get a degree in programming, the economy was booming - I was assured a job upon graduating... then I graduated...
It's a different world now, than it was a few years ago.
