RIP Hugh Hefner.

Hugh Hefner, the founder of Playboy magazine and the subsequent Playboy Enterprises which helped fuel the sexual revolution in the United States, has died. He was 91.

No he didn't ... porn has probably been around in some form or other since cavemen walked the earth. And he certainly didn't invent the modern incarnation; there were nudey mags around before Playboy.

And like someone else said, the ladies getting paid serious dollar for appearing in his mags certainly didn't mind, so why should you? Hef did more charity work than all of us on this forum combined ... I'll be raising a glass to him on the weekend.

As for the objectification ...they did not object.

It's been a principal of art, beauty, revenence, etc for practically all of humankind. Typically was man creates, woman mates and is revered.

Examples abound from: The "Venus of Willendorf" to the work of Rodin: notably "The Eternal Idol" (I only found out about this via Black Sabbath)

Either way.... it's been going on for forever.

I was a bit harsh - guess being a gay male, his products had no interest for me, but still I guess he was important to 3 or more generations of men who were into pornography.

Plus at least he had a bit of class with Plyaboy, the playmates and smiling naked girls were a huge step above the gonzo porn (3 dicks in 1 chick) and the sleazier magazines like Penthouse, Hustler, Razzle, Juggs, Creamsicle etc. Hefner liked porn but he was hardly tieing women up and making them do shit like Bukkake or anything else.

He should also be seen as one of the leaders of the Sexual Revolution of the 20th century along with names like Dr. Magnus Hisrchfeld (1869 - 1934), Dr Ruth Westenheimer, Alfred Kinsey and Havelock Ellis amongst others. People who made non procreative sex real and normal rather than sleazy, dirty or forbidden in the past.

I have no great feeling of loss for Hugh Hefner when he continually allowed cartoons like this in his magazine.
