Death Wish (2017) Maybe worth a look?

I am not always into pointless remakes. But I did like several of the old Death Wish movies... and with Bruce Willis in as the lead, I think this might be good!

I remember a few years ago hearing that Stallone was going to be directing a Death Wish remake. That might have been interesting.

To be honest, Bruce Willis puts me off this one. I loved all three Die Hard movies (that's right, ALL THREE) and he was good in Pulp Fiction and a few others but since Sin City nearly every movie he's starred in has been awful. Hopefully this is one of the good ones but I'd doubt it.

I don't consider anything after Die Hard With A Vengeance (the third movie) to be a Die Hard movie. It's like he's playing a different character or something. They were terrible movies that should never have been made.

I believe you're thinking of the Dirty Harry sequel THE DEAD POOL. That's got the harpoon.

DW3 has got a grenade launcher blowing out the wall of an apartment for an ending. But it's not just that. ...all the bad dialogue, dinner with the old Jewish couple: Charlie excuses himself to go "off" some hoodlums, "It's my car!")...only to return back to dinner with the most gentle attitude.

The Jimmy Page score from part II is reused and churned out through cheesy danceable synths and sax. Oh God, the DIALOGUE, THE LINES!

"this is the sticker, ....and you're the stickee"
"What da FUCK u looking at?!"
"They killed. ....the giggler....THEY KILLED THE GIGGLER MAN! "
"Tell you what, I'm a kill a little old lady just for you.
..Catch it on the 6 o clock news"
"Dey....dey Raped huhh!"
(BILL S. PRESTON ESQUIRE [ALEX WINTER]) "Come here bitch, I wanna eat you!"
"Cuban's gonna get high, HIGH, HIGH!"
"Wait till WILDEY gets here"..."my friend Wildey is here"
"Nothing's too good for our friends"
(Synth cue preceding every late night action shot)
"YEAH!"(little kid celebrating Kersey kicking guys ass)
(Overheard in crowd) "Thats the sucker who stole my purse, I'm glad he's dead!"
"Chicken?...Chicken's good...I like chicken"
....it just goes on and on...for total no brainer laughs and thrills it can never be beat. Hell...it's even got people in the street dancing and celebrating the deaths of thugs.

"All I've got is a zip gun"...

...I'm still bugging the CRITERION FACEBOOK PAGE about doing a version of it. FILM. SOUNDTRACK. DOCUMENTARIES. HOUSED IN A WILDEY CASE

I believe it was .475 ...a smaller variation.

I'm not an avid gun fan. Though I do intend on buying one or two someday before it's likely made illegal by the gov

EXACTLY!!!! I feel the EXACT same way. Those last two Die Hard movies seemed like amateur B-movies. The last one was "With a Vengeance" with Samuel L. Jackson. nod

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Yeah. Getting back to the OP i too heard about Stallone. ....Stallone would ruthlessly bring in some deep inner conflict. .. maybe make the new Kersey guy puke when he kills his first man or something.

I don't see Willis bringing depth to this and especially coming from this director. ...i only expect violence and bloodshed on the level of fetishism

But that COULD make for some interesting trash

yeah, some movies do not need remakes. I am currently watching remake (so far a remake in name only) of "the Equalizer." half-way in and so far almost no meaningful resemblance to the tv series... but a good action movie.
