It's going to be great. There are only 13 episodes left period. It is going to move much faster than previous seasons.
I think you're right.
They've already established over 5 seasons that people and events move slowly in the Seven Kingdoms, so they can eliminate the filler, as they did in S6. This can only help a great show become even better.

So is Arya's wolf going to make a come back? And where did Bran get a wheelchair, all this time Hodor was carrying him on his back and they knew about wheelchairs? Who's going to blow the horn to make the wall come tumbling down? Will Tyrion ride a dragon?
Who's binging? I haven't been able to, I did catch a few previous episodes on HBO. Honestly 13 more episodes seem a bit drawn out given the last finale. Danaerys is underway. Jon is named King of the North. Bran is near the Wall. Aryas back in Westros. Cersi's on the throne. Seems there should be one gigantic final battle,...but we know it won't be And if this show remains true to form there are some serious surprises ahead.

wars within the houses (Stark, Lannister and Greyjoy)
the wars for Westeros (Lannister-Stark-Targaryen)
and of course, the War Against Humanity (Night King v. The World)
That's going to take a lot of time and a lot of action to play out. I for one am glad they/re taking 2 more seasons to do it. There are way too many loose ends to tie up before the show ends.

Interesting takes. I agree on Jon's mandate -- to stay in and strengthen the North.
As I see it, the Greyjoys will play key roles on both sides of the War for the Seven Kingdoms (as I'm calling it), but since they're both going to be abandoning the Iron Isles to fight for their respective sides, will there be a direct battle for control?

Seems to me that since Yara beat Euron to Dany, then Euron's best bet will be to join forces with the Lannisters almost by default.

Does anyone feel like this seems to reflect the climate change issues we face? I mean, every nation has a bunch of infighting, along with fighting each other for some ultimate power and control, all of which is important but coming over the horizon is this bigger looming issue that'll screw us all. Hopefully somebody's got some fire-breathing dragons in tow for us.

Yes, true. It's hard not having any idea how any of this may play out since there are so many things at play. Grandma Flowers wants her revenge on Cersi, Little Finger wants the throne and Sansa, so there are even smaller games at play that could upset a lot of things. And what's Sam contribution to all of this? You know it's got to be crucial.
