"i don't know if you'll die on the gallows or from smallpox"
"that depends on if i embrace yo principles or yo wife" (montegue/wilkes)
"must you fall asleep while i'm speakin with you?"
"no... it's purely voluntary" (churchill)
"i'd rather be right than president"
"don't trouble yoself... you'll never be either" (clay/reed)
"edna, you almost look like a man"
"so do you" (coward/ferber)
"reserved two tickets for you for openin night... bring a friend if you have one"
"can't make openin night, maybe the second night, if you have one"
(shaw/churchill)
"what do you think of the singer's execution?"
"i'm all for it" (coolidge)
"if you were my husband i'd poison yo coffee"
"if you were my wife i'd drink it" (astor/churchill)
"i can't bear fools"
"apparently yo mother could" (parker)
"i enjoyed the book, who wrote it for you?"
"i'm glad you liked it.... who read it to you?" (chase)
dude rubs on longworth's bald head and says "Mmmmmmmmmmmmm smoooth, just like my wife's bottom"
longworth rubs his head and replies "indeed it does"

lol it's definitely witty humor, very highbrow. insults gfrom the very best and no butt jokes or fart jokes. there's nothing racist, or terribly sexist and it's all mainly stinging insults of the kind that start Twitter wars. lol but as we know context always matters. nod

and if these exchanges took place in the work place there are definitely attorneys who could whomp up a lawsuit based on intimidation, bullying demeanor, harassment, lack of gender issue sensitivity, and tortious interference with employment and intent to harm, that sort of thing, i'm thinking. wink

last week i had 2017 mandatory everyone workplace harassment training (which is probably why i came up with the "PC police" remark cause it's still fresh in my mind) and the definition of 'harassment' has been really broadened imo.

along with the usual advice against workplace use of communications tainted by derogatory and openly racist, sexist, genderist, religious, political, and such remarks and conversation we were also made aware that it is now mandatory to support each other through positive interaction.

or, at the very least, to refrain from creating a 'negative work environment' for co-workers. this includes gossiping, making remarks or comments about appearance, demeanor, work product and in general we are not to run around hurting others' feelings. eek smile which is good policy for the human raec, really.

so as to those insults bandied about above, in my current workplace anyone tried that probly end up in the human resources department that day or the next. and for sure you can't openly insult people or call them names at all, nor question a person's competence to do their job, even jokingly, anymore.

although one guy threw a huge fit one day a while back and lost it, shouting about this poor remote worker and her credentials but it was saturday, so no one really noticed and the supervisor had a quiet chat with him after but that's another story.

you get a hug if you actually read all this rambling post rose lol

And, sticking to Asian themes:
-Mr Ghandi, what do you think of western civilization?
-I think it would be a good idea.
