Just hope they don't start lowering the bar just to make ST more relatable to the times. The joy is to keep the bar high as a beacon to strive for.
We shall see. May not be as unsettling as it sounds.

Bones slapped a pregnant woman. I don't think it's about questionable moments but overall character. There's a Federation captain in Voyager that was in same situation as Janeway but pretty much throws the prime directive out the window in his attempt to get home. Didn't work out well but that's to be expected comparing that captain and Janeway. I know D9 (mostly) and V opened the door real wide to some questionable people within the ranks of the Federation.

I don't know why I get the feeling she and Avery had a thing, but the more of the show I watch the more prominent the feeling. But it is just a feeling I haven't a clue if it's a fact.

In a perfect world...
As I said it's just a feeling, no basis in fact.

Oh regarding the secret organization:

Section 31 was the name of an officially-nonexistent and autonomous clandestine organization which claimed to protect the security interests of United Earth and, later, the United Federation of Planets. Loosely speaking, it was Starfleet's black-ops division, operating separately from and usually without the knowledge of Starfleet Intelligence (though it often recruited members of Starfleet Intelligence). Section 31 was also somewhat comparable to the Romulan Tal Shiar or Cardassian Obsidian Order – unlike these other organizations, however, Section 31's very existence was a deeply buried secret, known only to a handful of people beyond its own membership. (DS9: "Inquisition")

Perhaps Section 31's darkest aspect was that, while it had existed since the beginning of Starfleet, it was practically autonomous, having operated for over two centuries with no oversight or accountability whatsoever, even free to kill those it deemed a threat to Federation interests at its own discretion. (DS9: "When It Rains...") Some high-ranking Starfleet admirals and intelligence personnel at times seemed to be vaguely aware that Section 31 existed, though giving them only very broad objectives. (DS9: "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges") At other times, Section 31 appeared to be an outright puppet master to Starfleet, directing the actions and even overall political policies of the Federation itself. (DS9: "Extreme Measures")

Right now catching up on watching everything again. Finished Enterprise. On season 4 of TNG. When done with TNG then gonna watch DS9 then Voyager. I know I missed like 2 or 3 episodes of DS9 so looking forward to that.

Maybe she's just very into her craft and decided to add the extra element to her acting, they do that sometimes to round out the character. Sisko/Avery rarely seemed to respond to the tiny flirtations, sometimes but mostly no, but sometimes she laid it on, not too overtly but subtle things.

Interesting tidbit. In late 2016, Farrell announced that she was in a relationship with Adam Nimoy, son of Leonard Nimoy who played Spock in the original Star Trek series, and accompanied him on promotional duties for his documentary For the Love of Spock.
