Coke tastes better during the holidays when Santa Claus is on the can.

Most definitely. My Great Grandfather used to sell Coke bottle products when I was
a kid. My grandfather used to put his in the freezer and give me some and it used
to be the best tasting soda you would ever drink. Sprite and Mr.Pibb were equally
better tasting frozen in the bottle. I no longer drink sodas. I gave them up several years ago.

I've never even seen coke in a glass bottle. Not in real life anyway. They have them on the commercials but anytime I've seen coke in a shop, they only ever have the plastic bottles.

Not just in Ireland. When I was in London and New York, I never seen glass bottles. Just the plastic ones.

I don't know about the sugar-sweetened original, but Diet Coke tastes best at McDonald's. Fact.

it's my understanding that mcd's uses a proprietary formula for their coke fountains...something about the syrup/water ratio, or maybe a unique blend of syrup? but, yeah, their coke is the whoop.

They do a whole bunch of stuff. They keep the syrup under refrigeration at all times (which is especially important with Diet Coke because aspartame loses its sweetness above a 130º), use a higher syrup to water ratio so the soda retains full flavor with a certain degree of ice melt, AND use drinking straws with a larger diameter, so more soda washes into your mouth at once.

Plus, McD's has VERY high standards for cleanliness - which means they clean their machines and flush their lines more than other places.

It all adds up to Coke that is - as you say - the whoop.

I think they ONLY have Coke in glass bottles in pubs (except small rural pubs buying cheaper plastic multipack buys)

I don't think you can buy it unopened to take away though.

Like you though I've never seen it in glass bottles in stores in Ireland
