Netflix or Amazon?

Thinking about going back to a streaming service. I've had experience with both. Havent had netflix in a couple of years. Had amazon for a month earlier this year and was pleased at the number of movies they have added to their catalog since the last time i subscribed a while ago.

Im not interested in tv shows so thats why hulu is out of the mix for me. Between netfix and amazon, who has the best movie database? Which do you prefer and why?

Amazon is better. Netflix has customer service issues and a kind of stale back catalog of shows. Amazon comes with access to cable shows and TV shows on a pay per view basis if they're not already included with the selection

Here's my question, though: how do you watch Amazon video on your TV? I can't get it through Apple TV or Chromecast. Do I have to buy a Firestick? Or do I have to use the Prime app on my phone and cast it to my TV?

Netflix has an app for Apple TV - which is a definitely a point in its favor.

if you have a smart tv, the app to watch prime video should/maybe can be installed. if you don't have a smart tv, yeah, you'll need a firestick...i just got one for my second, non-smart tv. it's got the voice activated remote, which is pretty cool. it also gives you access to many other streaming apps (from the networks, etc.).

i've never used netflix, so can't really compare; but amazon is pretty good and is updated rather frequently.

I do have a smart TV, but Vizio SmartCast does not have an Amazon prime video app.

Right, Apple won't support the competition with an Amazon link in Apple TV. I watch Amazon shows through my Sony Smart Blu-ray player.

Go with Amazon... Since, I got locked out of the Netflix account I was using, I went ahead and signed up for my own and I barely use it now, yet I always see things I want to watch available on Amazon. sigh I'll probably switch.

If you will, so will I

You can airplay amazon to Apple TV if you have an iPhone.

I use Netflix......sure we get House of Cards, Chelsea etc, but but the Australian content sucks compared to the American version from what I've researched.

Since the op doesn't care about tv shows, I'd say Amazon Prime all the way. Most movies on Netflix are 2 stars or less.

I pay for Amazon Prime. However, I watch Netflix shows on third-party websites or use torrents.
