I've had to mentally prepare myself for this inevitable event that I will have to deal with with my little buddy black panther.
.
I would rather he go before me, because I would not be a peace not knowing how he is treated if I'm not around.

I never wanted to say good-bye to my Pup. I felt like I would have her forever, but I know she will always be beside me, in my heart. heart

It hurts a lot but you get used to it after a while. I lost my bemoved Terry 2 years ago he was a golden retriever, and the worst part is that he died because i neglected him.

.

I'm so sorry for your loss!! He died because you neglected him? Do you care to elaborate?

I didn't follow the vet's advice or indications because ithought i knew better.

Please, don't blame yourself. You loved your Dog and he knows he was loved. A lot of people carry guilt when they lose a pet. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.

I am the one to blame for, trust me. If not for me, Terry could have been saved. He knew he was loved, that's for sure. Aside from his last week in this earth, he had a great life full of love, with that i'm at peace.

Don't destroy yourself. That would make your Dog very sad. hug

When we lose a pet or a loved one, we always feel like we could have done more, but we have to realize that they are in a better place and are no longer suffering.

Don't blame yourself. My vet wanted to do surgery on my dog, which would've only prolonged her life at the most 3 months. It was so expensive that there was no way we could afford it. I know how you feel. I blame myself too. I also blame myself for putting her down, thinking I did it too soon, it's a daily battle for me.

.

My Dog was not a candidate for surgery, and my husband always worried if she needed to have surgery, we would be able to cover the costs? It hurts so much when we see our Dog's health deteriorating and they are getting older and there is nothing we can do for them. Feeling helpless is the worst feeling in the world!!

.

It broke my heart in a million pieces that we had to put our Dog down. She lived for 1-1/2 years after she was diagnosed with CHF. I try to be greatful for the time we had with her, but it still hurts. I was not ready to say good-bye to my Pup. sad

We are here for you, if you need to talk. I know it hurts. It will be 5-months soon since I lost my Pup and I feel like I failed her. I ask God, why couldn't we have her for just a while longer?? sad

Recently I was really upset that my neighbours's cat who was very friendly had died in our backyard (she use to go around the neigbourhood for years and everyone would feed her treats) I had to go and tell them what happened sad She was 15 years old, such a beautiful soul....and even though she wasn't my cat I miss her and her visits.

I'm sorry for your loss. Even though it was your neighbor's cat, you became attached to her and developed a bond/friendship with her and when that is gone, the pain is real.

.

I have a similar story. This past fall, a beautiful Calico started coming around and hanging around our patio/front door. No one came around to claim her, so we kept giving her food and water. Someone obviously abandoned her and just dropped her off. We started becoming attached to her. She was very friendly. The sad part is that she started coming around a couple of months before we lost our Dog. We took her to a shelter, where she received medical treatment (she got a clean bill of health), and was adopted the very next day, so we were happy for her that she found a good home. We saved the Cat, but then we lost our beloved Sheltie. sad
