So I tried this online service called VNYL that sends new vinyl records in the mail every month. You get three records each month for 3 months..today was the last shipment. I've yet to go through all of them, but I went through two of them today. Brand new, fresh out of the plastic wrap, and they SKIP ALL OVER THE PLACE. Mind you the whole album doesn't skip, but about 1 or 2 tracks on each side has at least a few skips. BRAND NEW by the way!! This also was happening on my copy of Parade, skipping all over New Position, and a few other places. HOWEVER, I have a used copy of 1999 that only skips in ONE place, and a 30+ year old copy of Sgt Peppers that has no skips at all, that I found in a box in an alleyway 5 years ago??? Vinyl people I need your help!

Its either your vinyl is dirty and needs cleaning, or

the arm needs a bit more weight, or

you need a new needle, or

there is a scratch on the vinyl.

Some turntables can be sensitive to vibrations from you walking around nearby which makes the needle jump/skip which could create a scratch.

They could be a bad batch from the seller. You might have to consider getting your money back if you are not happy.

not necessarily the mastering but could be the EQ settings. it has been a KNOWN issue for decades that they have to set them with a lower bass level for that very reason. What happens is the middle is bounced out of the groove due to the shape of the wave path.

One way to help to affix a few coins or washers on the needle, just to give it a little more mass so it is not as likely to bounce out of the groove.

Yes and if the arm as a weight on it thatcan be adjusted as well, however that can also add cueburn that has been known to happen too lol

Well, that kind of make sense as it is the "loudest" song and it is on the inside so the needle arm is more perpendiculr to its base so it would be more susceptible to movements.

a good idea is to clean records before you play em.Yes,even "new" vinyl records that you just bought.I have one of those Spin vinyl cleaners and I don't play any vinyl until it's been cleaned thoroughly.
