The Denver Broncos made the absolute best pick of the draft when they got Ole Miss's Chad Kelly with the final pick.
Kelly dropped so far because: (1) he tore his knee up 3/4s of the way through last season; (2) he suffered a wrist injury during Ole Miss's pro day; and (3) his past was held against him.
The knee is fine; the wrist is fine; and he was a model citizen at Ole Miss. But what really matters is:
Kelly was tested on ESPN's "Sports Science" and graded higher than any other quarterback in this year's draft. In fact, he graded higher than any quarterback ever graded except for Ben Rothliesberger. Check it out:

Statistically, most QB picks flame out, whether picked at 2 or 200.
But we'll see.

The top three ever tested by Sports Science are Rothliesgerger; Kelly; and Jameis Winston. No doubt Kelly has a tough task ahead of him but those other two guys have done OK. And it's not like Denver has any good quarterbacks on the roster now, so who knows?

In the words of the dearly departed Charlie Murphy, Vontaze Burfict is an habitual line-stepper. And his dirty plays costs his team dearly. He's shown no signs of reining himself in, and the organization hasn't shown it can either.

But in case you haven't heard, it's moving that way.
But hey, if you're fine with him costing your squad games, that's cool.

I liken him to Ryan Mallett as far as measurables. He always seem to give Alabama fits.
He was kicked off of Clemson's football team for yelling at coaches during a spring game
after getting benched. You can score high on all these tests but that's not gonna automatically
help you toss td passes in the NFL. Joshua Dobbs drafted by the Steelers majored in aerospace
engineering at Tennessee and scored high on the Wonderlic but none of that guarantees he's
gonna be a good NFL qb. Don't laugh at my funk

Scoring high on a mental test is clearly far more irrelevant than scoring high on physical tests designed to replicate NFL reads and throws. But there are certainly no guarantees!
And ouch! Ryan Mallett? Yikes! He played for us for awhile. God help anyone that has the same mindset HE had!

It wasn't a great draft for the offensive linemen. They took an T out of Pitt in the 6th round.
2018 will better for OL talent. The tandem from Notre Dame, T Mike McGlinchey and G Quinton Nelson, are projected 1st rounders.

Of course. They're retired players who don't like the way the game has changed. Burfict may have been able to get away with some the plays he makes in the past, perhaps even 10 years ago. But not now, and neither he nor those old vets want to accept that.
So he'll continue to cost his team.

I hate to admit it but it looks like the Ravens have reloaded themselves on the defensive side of the ball with their first 4 picks in the draft something the Steelers apparently failed to do. Kevin Colbert is a decent GM but Ozzie Newsome is light years ahead of him as far as evaluating talent. Don't laugh at my funk

I think the WR in the 2nd round was to please Ben. QB yeah that needed to be addressed, Steelers need some one to fill in when Ben gets injured. Jones has not be able to do that nor any of the other QB's Vick, Leftwhich and Batch his last few years with the Steelers. RB, yeah I see that when they let go D. Williams. The Long Snapper pick in the draft was a bad choice. They signed Greg Warren to a one year deal, could have gone shopping for that position. |

Just ask Carson Palmer.
Good move by the Eagles signing LaGarette Blount. I wanted the Giants to get him. Dude is a battering ram. If he behaves himself, he'll do well in Philly. It's only a 1 year deal - low-risk move. |

That is like the only hit by the Steelers that couch potato critics can bitch about without using google. The most over rated hit. Palmer is still in the league and has had pro bowl seasons since, and he's good friends with Kimo VonHoffen. There's been some pretty cheap shots against Ben. When the Ravens broke his nose (and no flag called), last time they played the Rams and Ben got injured (Jeff Fisher is dirty, but not dirty like Burfect)
