WILL SMITH TO FIGHT YOUNG WILL SMITH IN CLONE ASSASSIN MOVIE 'GEMINI MAN'

Another day, another story about a movie Will Smith might star in. This time it's Gemini Man, about "an aging assassin," The Hollywood Reporter writes, "who finds himself in a battle with the ultimate opponent: his clone, who is 25 years younger and at the peak of his abilities." (Hi Looper.)

Two-time Oscar-winner Ang Lee (Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) is in talks to bring his prestigious directorial stamp, it was announced last week.

THR writes that Gemini Man was first in the works 20 freakin' years ago at Disney. "While always popular with execs, in and outside the studio, Gemini was considered unfilmable for many years because visual effects technology had not caught up to the concept." Previously Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson and Clint Eastwood had been considered for the role.

All that's official on Smith's docket right now is the threequel Bad Boys for Life, although it abruptly lost director Joe Carnahan last month. A year ago, it was on the release calendar for this June. Supremely notable, though, is the story that Big Willie might star in Disney's live-action Aladdin remake—as Genie.
