Greenleaf on OWN

Does anyone watch Greenleaf with Keith David, Oprah Winfrey, and more on OWN? Season 2 has started, and it's sort of intriguing about a megachurch in Memphis, and its pastor's family and their struggles, lies, and secrets.

If you've seen it, thoughts? Is it worth catching up & watching?

I've seen ads for it recently. A whole lot of drama it seems.

I started watching it last season and couldn't get past some of the bad acting and the over the top storyline, so I dumped it. lol I like Queen Sugar much better and looking forward to when it comes back on for season 2.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

OOhhh, child, Queen Sugar is really good. It was like a slow burn of drama, rather than constant explosions and "OMG" moments one after the other.

It's a lot better than Empire but not nearly as good as Queen Sugar.

Veteran actors Keith David and Lynne Whitfield pretty much carry the show as far as acting. Oprah is pretty good too.

So far it's not as over the top as it was last season.

Oh my Gawd. They packed so many issues in just 3 episodes it's like where else is there to go, beyond murder, which I can see "Uncle" being the one getting murdered crossing the WRONG line. I hope it paces itself.

Heck that dinner scene at the table on the 1st episode had me wishing I slunk away with the kids, geesh, talk about uncomfortable.

It's weird, because my homegrown black church experience is a bit different, there are so many no no's that strike me as so odd and out of place, but then there are a few that are like right on the money.

Caught two episodes at a friend's house. Very well produced, but I was done. I can't imagine how anyone could fit more dysfunctionality into 50 minutes.

I don't see this lasting long, they'll have explored every human condition anyone has ever gone through in a short time and run out of fuel. I couldn't imagine living in that much tension all the time, can they have a breather, go to DisneyWorld or something one episode?

lol Exactly. I was exhausted after only two episodes.

Ooo, they got their OWN after show talk show. I must say one can jump into an season 2 episode and not be lost once you see a few 1st season shows.

They covered murder last season when the cop got his brains blown out in the church parking lot. eek

They have toned it down at tad so far this season. Last night, GG took a baseball bat to creepy uncle's car. The pig was harassing and intimidating one of the kids he molested and she tried to kill herself.

CeCe's hubby is trying to cure himself with ipecac syrup....smh.

Lady May is still trying to get her apron strings back around Jacob's neck. lol

Greeleaf is still nowhere near as OTT as Empire. lol I gave up on that one.

I saw. She's the wrong one I'm thinking about.

I can see now what their doing, laying all the problems out at once and then spend the series unraveling them. I think I'll stick with it. Got some catching up to do but it's kinda nice to jump in right where it is now and have some idea what's going on even with the few episodes I've seen so far.

I haven't seen Empire in a while.
