Good for you! I stopped smoking a year ago this month. I can't believe I made it this far. I still get the heebie geebies for a cigarette every now and then, especially after eating spicey food, drinking coffee or alcohol and during highly stressful situations. I have to literally fight myself not to cave in and buy a pack when the craving bites me in the ass, but I don't give in. Keep at it, and you'll make it.

You're my she-ro! woot! Thank you for sharing your story! That truly inspires me. I have the same triggers as you. I know I'm going to have to avoid them for about two or three months until the initial craving goes away. I've already switched to herbal tea. I guess I'll carry around a thermos of it this summer. lol It doesn't hurt that the price per pack is going way up... razz

You know, I really have to give props to "the patch." I had been smoking since 1970. I was up to a pack and a half of cigarettes a day, which, needless to say, was getting quite expensive. I was spending $21.00 every two days for three packs. My breath was horrendous, my clothes stank, my house stank, my car stank, I was embarrassed to still be smoking having survived breast cancer. I hated being one of the schmuck hovering outside my office at work in the fucking cold dragging on a damn cigarette. But what really did it for me was when I fell out with seizures from a brain tumor and almost died. I spent almost two weeks in the hospital. That scared the shit out of me, and I quit the day before I went into the hospital for brain surgery. That was a year ago almost to the day. I still get cravings, and you will, too, but trust me. FIGHT THEM! They will pass in about three minutes. And if you find yourself backsliding, buy some patches and keep trying. If you really want to stop smoking, you will. pat

My opinion as someone who has quit smoking is that the more someone counts the days and talks about quitting smoking the more likely they are to start smoking again. Think about it as little as possible and try to talk about it as little as possible.

Quitting smoking is very hard. I've tried a number of times. Chantix worked best for me. I quit for 1 1/2 years, then started up again. sad My dad was diagnosed with stomach cancer and within 2 weeks he passed. So I started smoking again. I hate the nicotine gum, and the patch, the e cig is OK. With Chantix the darn dreams get me, and it feels like I have morning sickness every morning... I need to quit, but when I do I can't stop thinking about it.

Your opinion has little to do with reality. lol
