NEW 'WONDER WOMAN' TRAILER: IS THIS EXACTLY THE MOVIE DC NEEDS?

It's a little less period piece–ish than the last one
November 3, 2016
.

"I used to want to save the world, this beautiful place. But the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within." So begins the new trailer for DC's Wonder Woman movie, full of more of the great Gal Gadot than there was in basically the whole Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie.

Director Zack Snyder has opened DC's cinematic universe with visually bleak, color-sapped films, and fortunately it looks like director Patty Jenkins is giving Wonder Woman at least some of the zest that Marvel's No. 1 competitor needs. The scenes in Princess Diana's native Themyscira are positively stunning.

.

Overall the trailer offers a variety of flavors we didn't get to taste in the first one. Also: lots of bullet time, Chris Pine begging the Amazons to "stop the war to end all wars," and a comment on the petticoats' battle-unreadiness.

Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2, 2017. Next, visit New York Comic Con 2016 with Fuse:

This looks really good. I liked Dawn of Justice and I thought it was very underrated by a lot of critics but it could have been better (in fact, the longer cut WAS better) so I have high hopes for Wonder Woman. The best thing about Dawn of Justice was Ben Affleck though so I'm more looking forward to The Batman.

I looked at the book the Art of Batman vs Superman in an impatient mood and judged the movie based on that. I was prepared not to like it.
A buddy pressed me to go see it and I loved it. I love Wonder Woman in that movie.
And this looks really good. Many why June 2017

Each to their own. The first Tim Burton Batman movie remains my personal favourite. The Nolan movies are really overrated in my opinion. Begins is good, Dark Knight is pretty good too but Rises was boring.

I hate trailers like this. Producers must know that those of us who'll see the film have been sold on it for months, yet thay go and reveal some of the most anticipated sequences -- the lasso reveal, bullet deflection. Why? shrug

I'm the opposite--I can't stand Michael Keaton as Batman. One of the worst casting mismatches in cinematic history IMO.

He's definitely not who you'd imagine playing Batman so I can kind of understand there being some unease amongst fans when they heard of his casting. But I thought he did an incredible job. His Bruce Wayne was fantastic and to me, he IS Batman. I'd love to see him return to the role of Bruce Wayne in a Batman Beyond movie at some point.

Another reason why Batman 89 remains my favourite Batman movie is Jack Nicholson. He was brilliant. I know it's not much of a stretch for Jack Nicholson to play a deranged mad man but that doesn't change how good he was. Still the best live action Joker in my opinion.

Well the soundtrack is better. For the Keaton Movies I liked the 2nd movie better. Really liked Christopher Walken in it

I like Christopher Walken in pretty much everything. Batman Returns also had Catwoman. Not the waste of space from Dark Knight Rises. The REAL Catwoman.

You can't really go wrong with Jack Nicholson. lol Even in roles in later years when he plays a caricature of himself.

I loved Michelle Pfeiffer as Cat Woman. SHE should have had a spin-off movie as Cat Woman, not Hallie Berry. razz

I'll give ya my review on Batman. wink I'll check out the Wonder Woman animated movie, too. Loved the Lynda Carter series in the 70s. This new Wonder Woman flick looks great to me. The actress looks like an Amazon should look--like Lucy Lawless in Xena: Warrior Princess. I was a big fan of that show. smile

Hey, we're talking fun and fantasy here--not real war. razz lol But, I bet those ladies would like to take a break from war and watch a good film... At home, in their PJs, with their loved ones.
