bump cause I just remembered my sisters taking me to see this when I was 6, the one where they go to hell. I'd actually blocked out that memory.

Funnily enough, I also saw loads of movies that were really inappropriate for my age. I seen the Exorcist when I was about 6 or 7. I seen loads of violent action movies before I'd even started school. None of those things frightened me. E.T. scared the hell out of me. Still does.

I didn't see the Exorcist until I was a 20 year old college student and it STILL messed me up for life lol

E.T. gave me nightmares for years. Everything about him creeps me out. How he talks, how he moves, how he looks like Gail Platt from Coronation Street. *shudder*

I think it was the theme music that freaked me out.

Nuclear war drama Threads did the same when I was 15...! [Edited 10/10/16 11:47am]

late comment: i have no problem seeing how threads would have an impact on someone at any age. that movie is bleak.

.

the only thing i can really remember scaring me as a kid is not a show or movie, but the illustrated book that came with jeff wayne's war of the worlds lp. my brother had a copy, and i always found those pictures incredibly frightening.
