RIP Arnold Palmer, Jose Fernandez

Arnold Palmer, one of the greatest golf players to ever play the game, a legend whose telegenic style made golf popular to the masses in the early days of sports television, has died. He was 87.

Palmer, part of the "Big Three" legends of golf along with Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, won 62 titles on the PGA Tour including seven major titles; four Masters, two British Open titles, and one at the U.S. Open. He received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2004.

Meanwhile, Jose Fernandez, a rising star in Major League Baseball as the ace pitcher for the Miami Marlins and a former Cuban refugee, died early this morning along with two other passengers in a boating accident outside of Miami Beach, Florida. He was just 24 years old.

Fernandez won the National League Rookie of the Year award in 2013 but sat out all of 2014 due to Tommy John surgery. He was winding down his best big league season, posting a 16-8 record with a 2.86 ERA, and was scheduled to pitch against the Atlana Braves today.

So sad on both counts. The kid had a future. Arnold was pure class.
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

For a life well lived, blessed and loved I say thank you Mr. Palmer and be at peace kind soul.

For a life that didn't reach its potential but from what I'm reading about him had huge impact I say thank you Jose, it's way too soon but you were loved and blessed as well so be at peace.

R.I.P to both. Kinda weird the Simpsons season premiere made a Arnold Palmer reference, sure it was made before Arnold Palmer death. Then on the Family Guy season premiere they made a Willy Wonka (Gene Wilder, who also just recently passed away) reference as well hmmm
