Totally agree. I would go so far as to say that a powerful running game has been the definition of Steeler football in previous years.....that and a consistently effective defense. I want us to definitively recapture that identity.

I can't deny the impact of so many injuries though.

I'm not gonna jump on Tomlin and Haley but they have to recognize and exploit weaknesses when game planning against other teams. How do you not shove the ball down the Dolphins throat when they have the worst rushing defense in the league although the Steelers are down to their 3rd string RT due to injuries. The Titans came to Miami the week before and DeMarco Murray ran circles around the Dolphins defense. I remember a game two years ago when they played the Jets and loss to Mike Vick the Jets had the worst secondary in the league and the Steelers didn't throw the ball deep until the 4th quarter. That is my one complaint about Tomlin's coaching staff they don't seem to always take advantage of an inferior teams weaknesses.

Especially after Ben got injured. nod

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Bengals' Vontaze Burfict fined $75,000 for stomp on LeGarrette Blount

USA Today Sports' Tom Pelissero recaps the biggest takeaways from Sunday's games in Week 6 of the NFL. USA TODAY Sports

The NFL has fined Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict $75,000 for an apparent stomp on New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount in Sunday's game, a person with knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the NFL hadn't announced the fine, which Burfict has appealed.

Burfict already served a three-game suspension earlier this season for multiple violations of the NFL's player safety rules and drew the Patriots' ire Sunday in part for a low hit to the back of tight end Martellus Bennett's left knee.

That play didn't draw a fine, the person said. But the apparent stomp of Blount after a touchdown late in game did. Blount reacted by jumping up and shoving Burfict, who flopped to the ground and drew a flag on Blount for unnecessary roughness.

Anyone intentionally harming another player should be suspended. ANYONE. Period. NFL clearly missed the mark on this one.

It's so obvious he's trying to take out people. He should not be allowed to play in the NFL

I heard that this ruling was due to what was in his contract. Because he already got suspended in the past, he now gets a fine only. If it were to happen AGAIN, then he could face another suspension. Anyone know if there is truth to that? Rediculous...

Fan dies after falling while leaving Texans-Broncos game

DENVER -- Authorities say a fan has died after falling 30 to 50 feet at the Denver Broncos' stadium after a game on Monday night.

Stadium Management Co., which operates Sports Authority Field at Mile High, said the fan fell over a stairwell railing.

The medical examiner's office said Tuesday the man was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead.

His name has not been released and a Denver police spokesman did not immediately provide details about the investigation.

The incident occurred near the north end of the stadium following the Broncos' game against the Houston Texans.

What did you think about the Steelers-Pats game Sunday? Not many backup qb's are gonna

beat Tom Brady but with the exception of the pick thrown to Malcolm Butler and a few other passes that were off target I thought Landry Jones did a good job. Just couldn't get td's in the red zone. I'm disappointed in Tomlin for the second week in a row. Terrible call to send Boswell in to kick a 54 yd fg on 4th and 2 into that open end of Heinz field where the wind blows. The kick never had a chance and the fans knew it as you could hear the chorus of boos before the kick during the broadcast. It's not all Tomlin's fault as the defense gave up big plays that decided the game. If Ben were healthy the Steelers would have won this game because the Pats were sloppy but did just enough to win.

If Pittsburgh is 100% healthy, maybe they can take New England down. But you have to play mistake-free football in all three phases, and the coach has to be on his game too. Belichick is a master at taking away what the opponent does best. And can someone cover Gronk?

Denver has the defense to beat the Pats, but it's a lot to ask their young QB to go into Foxboro and win a playoff game. He's going to see shit he's never seen before. A savvy veteran like Big Ben or Peyton knows what to do at (what Magic Johnson calls). "winning time".

A healthy Steelers offensive and Denver defense would be the team to beat

Money.....and I heard he was freelancing too much on defense, which irked the coaches.

But why are you surprised? It's not the first time Belichick has done this (Molloy, Jones, Seymour).

The only untouchables on NE are Brady & Gronk.

They could have kept him until the end of the season then got rid of him. I was surprised they did it now.

Gronk has 3 years with us and I don't honestly feel as though he will be healthy for all of them. Once his 3 years are up he'll be gone too. Patriots aren't a team that dish out money for players.
