Weapon of gastro destruction. Yum, old, warm, fly infested mayonnaise.

I like slaw, though. Especially on burgers.

The purpose is to get me to eat two things, carrots and cabbage, that I normally would never eat.

I can't stand cooked carrots, and I would never eat cabbage if it's not in cole slaw.

I wondered that all the way up into my adulthood, I could never stand the stuff. I can tolerate occasionally now but really who thought of it?

Even better is slapping it on a bar-b-que pulled beef or pork sammich. Believe it or not, Costco makes a decent bar-b-que beef sandwich, and they put slaw on it. The sandwich is so hefty, I make two sandwiches, deviding the beef and slaw to make deuces.

Actually, mayonnaise is not the direct cause of illness from foodborne pathogens. Mayonnaise has a pH below 4.6 - and its acidity actually impedes the growth of pathogens.

The cause of foodborne illness usually lies in what the mayonnaise is applied to. It is the potatoes in the potato salad, or the cabbage in the cole slaw - or, more accurately, the pathogens that get on them because they have been touched by humans during the preparation of the dish – that are the problem.

Say, for example, someone is making potato salad. They have to cut up the potatoes, right? So while they're doing that, they just happen to touch their nose or there's a little cut on their hand. Both the nose and cut are sources of staph aureus. They go on working on the potatoes, getting that pathogen alllllll over them.

Then they put the mayo on there. Again, mayo is too acidic to carry any pathogens. BUT...it creates an anaerobic environment on the potatoes that staph aureus just loooooooves. So the pathogen keeps multiplying. Leave the potato salad or coleslaw at a "danger zone" temperature and you have staph aureus stew. Yum.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Depends on where u get it from. Publix grocery imo has the best cole slaw hands down.

If you get it from Wal Mart or Food Lion it tastes all mushy and nasty. Publix cole slaw is

great with a pulled pork bbq sandwich, applewood chicken saugage dogs, or chicken sandwich.

I've tried that my friend, just doesn't agree with me when they are cooked. And I love raw carrots.
