Scarlett Johansson is currently the highest-grossing woman in box office history

PurpleJedi this article caught my eye on your behalf:

.

Scarlett Johansson is currently the highest-grossing woman in box office history
Move over, lads.

.

Scarlett Johansson really is one of the most in-demand actors these days but turns out she's also one of the most bankable. She's recently landed herself on a list of the ten highest-grossing actors of all time and just happens to be the only woman there.

.

The Wrap picked up on the latest numbers from Box Office Mojo, which have Johansson breaking the top 10 (though not adjusted for inflation). Her films have garnered pulls of $3.3 billion domestically. She's also the youngest among the top ten at 31-years-old.

.

The Wrap writes:

Is Johansson the first woman to crack the top 10? Considering the parameters of Box Office Mojo’s list, probably not. Though it’s hard to tell for sure since the box office data site, owned by Amazon’s IMDb, refused to share year-over-year comparison data with TheWrap, saying the site is self-serve only.

while it's true that quite a few of her fans are male, it's not very nice of you to refer to them so derogatorily. that just seems harsh

I think she was the only good thing in that "Hail Caesar" disaster. I wanna see her in more comedies after seeing that role, I think the girl has sense of humor, she just needs a good director to bring that out of her.

Well let's be honest most of the money is coming from all the Marvel movies she has been in. Fans would have seen those movies regardless if she had been in them or not.

Only thing I can say about her is I liked her fight scenes in The Avenger movies, they had a realness, that I would imagine, a woman, would have if trained for such things.

Very interesting. Thank you.

Wish there was a way to easily adjust for inflation and really marvel at what's happened over the last century plus.

To me she's quite talented, drop-dead gorgeous, and looking over her filmography in IMDB (with many I've yet to see, most prominently "Avengers"), she is also totally crush worthy in an artistic sense.

Scarlett Johansson (U.S. gross in millions)

(1) Under the Skin (2.6)
(2) Lost in Translation (44.5)
(3) Match Point (23.1)
(4) Her (25.5)
(5) Ghost World (6.2)

101.9 million total

I like Scarlett, she's a good actress and can sing too, very edgy eg. Before My Time is my fav song at the moment https://www.youtube.com/w...JZDgWAOQU, I hope down the pike that she get great roles that will win her an EGOT biggrin My fav Scarlett roles Her, Hail Caesar!, The Prestige and Match Point. biggrin

While I like her in the Marvel/Avengers movies, she shines brightest in these to me. All fantastic films.

Wonder how long before Jennifer Lawrence knocks her off the top though. She seems to be Hollywood's sweetheart right now.

If you will, so will I

Just saw Scarlett in "Lucy" yesterday--she really is a knock out. Didn't like the ending to the movie though... After all that build-up, the ending was anti-climactic. I said, "That's it?!" razz lol

I believe she is, but her movies don't make as much at the box office as Scarlett Johansson's.

I don't think I've ever seen one of her movies. Let me check.......nope, not really. Apparently she had a bit part in "Home Alone 3" and I believe I saw that movie. But that's it.

She needs to do something with Arnold, Sly, Bruce Willis or Jason Statham.

Let me know which two or three are your favorites and I'll watch them! Keep in mind I'm not much for dramas or rom-coms or weepy-eyed white girl movies. I like action and comedies, and they HAVE to have a happy ending.

Thanks!
