No. Its not rightfully his to give away. If I robbed your car and gave it to my daughter, would you not look for it back?

Not a good example. If you have a choice between stealing some food or letting your kids starve, then I'd say, yes, that's an emergency. But banks aren't robbed by desperate parents. That is, if they're being robbed at all. I'd say banks are so well protected right now (the one in my home town even has a sign saying the employees have no access to money) that criminals start looking for easier targets. Lately in Holland, we've had some cases of people robbing busses and those people don't do it to feed their starving kids, that's for sure!

maybe the better question is this: Man robs a bank and used the money to buy something from his kid and the kid sells it in good faith in exchange for the item (at is FMV and In Good Faith) and the item is lost or destroyed can the kid keep the money?

or what if the cash--the actual bills--was exchanged for different bills... is the stolen money still stolen or is the money it was exchanged with now stolen?

It'll be something to do with immigrants, I expect.

Of course not.

Oh. Yeah, now that I think about it you're are more than likely right.

I hate it when people try to trick you into stepping into dog poo.

There's a catch 22 to that. If it's not right for group, then it wasn't ever right for anyone so everyone should give back everything to their rightful owners if one believes in that line of thinking or else they're just full of self righteous crap.
