Captain America: Civil War (spoilers)

There was pages and pages of discussion for Batman Vs Superman but so far there's been little said about this year's other superhero slugfest. What did you guys think of the movie?
I really liked it. More than I thought I would. I've liked most of the MCU movies up to this point but with the Winter Soldier and now Civil War, I feel that Marvel have moved on from making good superhero movies to very good movies. Robert Downey Jr gives his best performance as Tony Stark/Iron Man yet, the movie manages to feature most of the Avengers and brings new characters Spider-Man and Black Panther into it and it still doesn't feel overstuffed, and Captain America.... Ahh.. Captain America.....

Aunt May keeps getting younger and younger lol
Pretty soon, May won't even be his aunt....she'll be his damn girlfriend lol
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. I've seen it like 6 times already. I can't get enough. It perfectly wraps up all the movies from the past 8 years, and at the same time, is the beginning of Phase 3 for Marvel. This film was perfectly made. They could've made this a reuglar movie without the super hero stuff, and it would STILL be good. I didn't think they would top Winter Soldier like this lol
I could go on and on and on about this movie...

I always thought it was strange how in the Tobey Maguire movies his aunt and uncle were old enough to be his grandparents. Uncle Ben is supposed to be his father's brother, right? If Peter is only 15 or 16, why is his uncle so old. Was his father of a similar age? Were Peter's parents in their late 50's when he was born? Even Martin Sheen looked too old in Amazing Spider-Man. I think Marisa Tomei is good casting. Although I would say that wink

It was the same in the comics.

That doesn't mean it makes sense though. I'm 26 and my grandmother is 62. Peter Parker was about 16 in the Tobey Maguire movie and his aunt and uncle were late 60's. They were too old to be his aunt and uncle. His parents would be of a similar age to uncle Ben which would mean that they were around 50 when Peter was conceived. There's not many 50 year old women giving birth to their first child. Regardless of what they did in the comics, it's more realistic that Peter would have an aunt around Marisa Tomei's age.

Well today people are having children later on in life so it might not be that un common. I too have Aunts and Uncle's on my mom side that are old enough to be my grandparents.

I like how they brought back William Hurt's 'General(Secretary of State) Ross' character from The Incredible Hulk. I think folks forget that movie's part of the MCU.

Speaking of the Hulk, he'll appear in Thor: Ragnarok. Rumor is we'll see a more intelligent Hulk.

I did like Rosemary Harris. I just thought she was a bit too old. It remains to be seen if Marisa Tomei will be better than her in the role. She wasn't in Civil War enough to be judged fairly so we'll see what she's like in Homecoming. But I'm going to predict she'll be good.

I liked the incredible Hulk movie. It wasn't great but it was enjoyable enough. I'd like to see Mark Ruffalo get his own movie but Ragnarok is about as close he'll get. I think pairing him with Thor could be interesting. What will the people of Asgard make of the Hulk? They also said that 80% of the movie is set in "the cosmos". Not necessarily all on Asgard, so I wonder if they'll have a link to Guardians of the Galaxy in it. Star Lord is confirmed for the next Avengers movie so I think it would be a good opportunity to introduce him to some of the Avengers.

I'm fresh off of watching it... And I'm gonna put it at number one when it comes to my favorite MCU movies!
I think my favorite part of the movie is Spiderling.....Spider-Boy....Crime-Fighting-Spider...The Human-Spider (they should've added that name in that scene just as a gag lol)

When QUEENS was on the screen I lost my shit. That was the dead-giveaway. And Left Hand Free by Alt-J, I think really fits Spidey... It was a nice touch.

Well, I came in TeamCap, but I understood Tony and felt for him too. Especially at the end and where he says, “You don't deserve that sheild! My Dad made that sheild!”

Such an awesome movie. 9/10.

I wish things had worked out between Edward Norton & the producers. His portrayal of Banner is light-years ahead of Ruffalo's. And Norton's Hulk is fucking monstrous.

I actually prefer Mark Ruffalo. He brings a kind of geeky charm to Bruce Banner.

Wow, that actress looks sexy.

Sexy is not the first word I think of when I think of Peter Parker´s Aunt May.

I wonder why they chose such a young actress.

Probably as a possible love interest for Tony Stark. Downey will be in Spider-man/Homecoming.

Chadwick Boseman signed a five-picture deal with Marvel - nice! Now they need to work on Luke Cage.

She's not that young. She's 51. I know that’s not exactly old but she is the perfect age to have a teenage nephew.

In other geek news, the Godzilla/Kong cinematic universe is in full swing:

Kong - Skull Island (2017)

Godzilla 2 (2019)

Godzilla vs Kong (2020)

Gareth Edwards backed out of directing Godzilla 2 to work on other projects - that sucks.

Loved it. i like it when they go not over the top like trashing whole cities, but keep it small. There is big action, but you can follow it.

Like the story too, it is little more of an intelligent story in stead of the bad vs good guy.

for me the strongest character is the winter soldier, very well done.

Spiderman was cool, but didn't like the introduction of him.

It's more of an avengers movie, isn't it?

I really liked the Winter Soldier too. He was kind of forgettable in The First Avenger and he didn't really impress me much in the movie which was named after him. But I think his character has really stepped up in Civil War. I'd like to see him make an appearance in another, non Captain America based MCU movie, perhaps the Black Panther?
It kind of is an Avengers movie, only told from Captain America's point of view. I don't mind that though. There's going to be so many crossovers in future MCU movies, same with the DC movies, that the days of superhero movies starring only one hero are gone. Tony Stark has already been confirmed to be in the next Spider-Man, the Hulk is in Thor 3, Batman and Superman shared top billing and after the post credits scene in Civil War, it's very possible that the Winter Soldier will show up in Black Panther's movie.

Black Panther isn't due until 2017. I can't wait. Doctor Strange

is due in November. You have another Thor due in 2017.

You have 2 new Avengers coming out in 2018 and 2019.

Marvel is a motherfucking cash cow now. Thor is my shit though.

On the DC side you have Wonder Woman due in 2017 as well

as Flash and Aqua Man. I hope Aqua Man makes a big splash.

In 2019 finally we get Shazam! boogie

Real talk, Stevie should've told Tony a few years earlier about brainwashed pawn Bucky/Winter Soldier murdering Tony's parents back in the early 1990's.

But all of that aside, CA:CW was still a very good story. I ranked it a step under CA:TWS.

I think the fact that he didn't tell him proves that in the MCU, nobody is perfect. Not even Captain America.
