He's a real Superhero from Marvel comics. Ryan Reynolds has actually played Deadpool already in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but the character, while still technically the same, was very different from the one in the new movie. The Deadpool in the new movie is closer in tone to the comics. Also, one of the X-Men show up in the new movie. I won't spoil anything for people who haven't seen it yet but for what it's worth, I hated it.

It's just not my kind of humour. I'm sure some people will like it. For me though, it just felt like a superhero version of Grown Ups. Too many dick jokes.

That's actually what they are promoting about it. With so many superhero movies out there, they wanted to offer something a bit "tongue-in-cheek".
