nod He's become to be a really good actor. Even though I saw him in "The Wire", his performance in "Fruitvale Station" was on point. I even cried at the end and I'm not one that gets emotional over movies.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I liked the first two and the one with Drago. But the newer one with rocky all old and his wife dead, I didn't like at all. Not excited about this movie, even a little. I might catch it if it makes it to Netflix or showtime or something.

I liked the first two a lot, the third one was a bit over the top but I liked it back then and still do. Part IV with Ivan Drago was kinda meh....the soundtrack by Vince DiCola had no Bill Conti compositions or collaboration on it and sounded sterile, and the storyline was just waaaaay overblown and over the top.

Rocky V was unnecessary and forgettable, the soundtrack sucked, too.

-

You say you didn´t like the last one (Rocky Balboa =Rocky VI) but I really liked it. :lol:Especially because of its depressing storyline about personal loss, grief, death, aging and friendship and the changing times. I think it was a very touching movie and a little miracle because people thought it would suck, and it turned out to be a huge success.

In hindsight, that particular scene where Rocky talks to his son outside of his restaurant is very bittersweet because it is such a thinly veiled movie version of Stallone´s relationship with his late son, and it was truly tragic that he died in real life. I bet that scene is really tough to watch for Sly Stallone.

When I first heard of Creed I thought it would suck because hey, how many times is he going to revive that Rocky Balboa character? The trailers were ok but I was still skeptical, and now I see a 97% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It´s unbelievable. Some critics are calling this "best movie of 2015" and what is even more amazing is how critics celebrate Stallone as a great actor and think he should get nominated for an Oscar as the best supporting role actor.

I doubt he´ll get an award considering how he´s ruined his reputation with dozens upon dozens of bad movies but it would still be a nice gesture.

But yes, I can relate to your skepticism. wink

Still....I can´t wait to watch this (very predictable) movie.

Glorious reviews for Creed aka Rocky VII. Unbelievable!

I´m really happy for Sylvester Stallone that, at this point in his life, he is so popular again. I can´t stand his Expendables movies but it´s good to see him being successful and happy.

Interesting.......Sly has mirrored the life and times of a boxer, from unknown, 2 champ, 2 rich, 2 broke, 2 redemption as a trainer.

The Rocky movies always make me cry...
In the first one I really felt for Adrian when her brother was treating her like shit. Even though I still find it funny when he says he doesn't want her hanging around "like a spider". That line gets me every time. But the relationship between Rocky and Adrian is so sweet. Who knew that Stallone was capable of that kind of tenderness.
In part 2, when she's in hospital, and Rocky is in the chapel praying for her and not training for the fight and Mickey joins him, that's another scene that always tugs at the heartstrings and makes be blubber like a child.
Part 3, it's when Mickey dies... I can't even type the rest. I actually feel like crying just thinking about it...
Apollo dying in part 4 was such a shock to me. I loved Apollo. It felt like losing a cool uncle or something. So sad...
Part 5 just made me sad because of how shit it was.
Then in Rocky Balboa, that scene where Paulie thinks back to the way he treated Adrian now she's dead and regrets how much of a bastard he was, that's another scene I always cry at.

I love these films (apart from Rocky V) so I'm hoping Creed can live up to them. I'll definitely be going to see it but I'll be bringing a lot of tissue. wink

I think of all the Rocky movies, the last part is the most touching and saddest one. From Paulie´s monologue on how badly he´s treated his sister to Rocky´s speech to his son outside the restaurant,it´s just a string of very, very sad moments, yet never clicheed or overly sentimental.

That´s why the last part became one of my favorite Rocky movies and maybe one of my favorite movies of all time.

-

.

If you haven´t seen the deleted footage of Paulie in part VI, you should. There´s this one scene in particular that I like very much. I think it should never have been deleted. Part of it was used in Rocky Balboa, but not all of it. It´s a bit of an edit. The Rocky footage from 1976 is a bit unnecessary though:

I think you (or we lol ) are going to need a lot of handkerchiefs if we are going to watch Creed in a movie theatre. lol

Creed frontman Scott Stapp reviews Creed the movie

Creed frontman Scott Stapp does what he was born to do in a new video from Funny or Die: review Creed the movie.

Related

The problem is, Stapp was led to believe that Creeda Rocky film — was about his band. “I said to myself, ‘Finally, the epic tale of my band Creed is coming to the big screen!’” Stapp says.

He goes on to point out that the movie isn’t that similar to his band’s history — “One time I punched a guy from 311 but I never boxed” — and points out that he doesn’t look that much like Creed star Michael B. Jordan.

Despite these inconsistencies, Stapp ends up giving the drama four out of five arms wide open. Watch the clip below

EroticDreamer

There's an hour special on the cable channel EPIX entitled "From Rocky To Creed: The Legacy Continues".

Stallone, Carl Weathers, Dolph, and others narrate the saga from beginning to present.

It's on tonight and again tomorrow.

We're gonna see Creed Sunday, hopefully.

"Rocky" was based on the life of Chuck Wepner. Wepner sued Stallone and they settled out of court.

Here are 71 more great facts about the "Rocky" franchise: https://www.yahoo.com/mov...37786.html

1. Stallone was inspired to write Rocky after watching Chuck Wepner’s 1975 title fight with Muhammad Ali, in which the journeyman heavyweight knocked down the champ for only the third time in Ali’s career. Wepner later sued Stallone for cashing in on his life story and they settled out of court.

2. Stallone’s first version of Rocky was much darker than the final draft. Rocky was an anti-hero, Mickey was a racist, and Rocky ended up throwing the final fight so he wouldn’t have to be a part of the vile world of boxing. Stallone says around 10 percent of the original script remained in the final version.

3. Producers Robert Chartoff and Irwin Winkler met with Stallone as a favor to his agent, and although they didn’t have any parts for him, they told Stallone to pass along anything he wrote. After rejecting on the script that eventually became the 1978 film Paradise Alley, the producers readRocky and immediately optioned it. United Artists was interested, but wanted to cast a big-name actor even though the then little-known Stallone desperately wanted the role. Finally, the head of UA agreed to let Irwin and Chartoff cast Stallone after watching The Lords of Flatbushand mistakenly thinking Perry King was who they were casting.

4. Other than Burt Young (Paulie), none of the primary actors in Rockywere the first choice. Producers wanted Lee Strasberg for Mickey, but he wanted too much money. Burgess Meredith, a professional actor since the 1930s, stepped in. Boxer Ken Norton was lined up to play Apollo, but he dropped out at the last minute to go on the ABC show Superstars. Carl Weathers auditioned shortly after and got the part, even though he insulted Stallone’s acting during his read through and lied about having boxing experience.

I read somewhere that they rather wanted James Caan or Burt Reynolds to play Rocky. lol

-

I can picture that in my mind....especially with James Caan...but Rocky wouldn´t have turned out as memorable, IMO. Stallone is more timeless, and he IS Rocky.

Don´t understand why Chuck thought he had any right to sue Stallone. Sure, the story is definitely inspired by the Wepner fight, a fact that Stallone repeatedly and openly admitted in interviews even before Wepner sued him.

So people can sue you if you write a story that´s inspired by a real life sports event, or any other real life story? That´s interesting.

I think they made a great choice in choosing Michael B.Jordan. I like his acting and he deserves so much more than to be remembered most for that Fantastic Four movie.

He really looks the part to play Apollo´s son...the eyes, the physique, the face, that mustache. lol

They couldn´t have chosen anyone better than MJB.

.

.

Must be kind of tough to build a career with such a famous name though...it´s cool that he hasn´t changed his name. I wonder if he´s even considered it.

I saw it! I will not say much but the opening shows a retired and out of shape retired Rocky working at the sandwich shop he owns "Balboa Deli"... and this guy comes in complaining about some bad tuna... Rocky tells him "Yo, i told you it smelled funny...." and the guy sees the posters and recognizes him and it goes from there.

... on a side note: back when Rocky IV was first released...back before pre-sales and all that. Back when if you wanted to see a movie you had to go buy tickets for the show and if it was sold out you had to wait for the next showing.

Rocky IV was a blockbuster! meaning here was a line around the block waiting to see the movie...

So we were passing such a line... on opening night.... I had not seen the film (but i had randomly met on of the people in it who was up for Draco...he was funny he thought ALMOST getting a role was the same as getting he but he said he was a background but i never noticed him)...

But long story short *too late* as we drive the line I roll down my window (turn down Prince) and yell out "Rocky Wins" and we almost got killed....

EDIT: wow I was just looking at the charts for 85 Back to the Future was #1 with Rambo II and Rocky IV being 2 and 3... pretty good year for Sly... But then I read the other movies that year! I saw over half of them... crazy. (and I wonder who all will get the joke in my above post?)
