Hmmm I've seen both and wasn't too crazy about them. I've heard mixed reviews from people I know about Bamboozled...either you like it or you don't, there's no in between. I haven't seen it in years but willing to see it again. Crooklyn was ok, but I enjoyed the soundtrack better than the movie. lol

Overdue, though I can only hope he gets the real one.

Do The Right Thing is and remains his best movie, and for my twocents one of the very best films ever made. Malcolm X, The 25th Hour, and Get On The Bus are classics as well.

I have a lot of love for School Daze and Crooklyn too.

They tend not 2 give those 2 folks who aren't playing certain types of roles or attitudes.

All great movies that are well-made and state what they mean. Bamboozled was not one of those.

Case in point: the year Do The Right Thing came out, Driving Miss Daisy won the Oscar for Best Film.

I didn't mention Bamboozled, but I understand both sides of the divide on that film.

Bamboozled tried to say too much with no sense of direction and in the end said nothing....coherent.

One thing I really like about Spike (and that he shares in common with Prince and Woody Allen) is that he's not afraid to take risks and sometimes they really pay off, sometimes they don't.. but there's a fearlessness in his filmmaking that's to be commended because 90% or more hollywood plays it safe. He's made a shit-load of clunkers though in the past ten years or so, but the latest one Chi-raq has been getting relatively good reviews.

Change it one more time..

Love Spike Lee. Surprised he 'accepted' the honorary Oscar. Bamboozled was masterful and slept on by many. If u didn't GET it, u were not paying attention to the cultural dynamics of the day (still applicable). Spike has NEVER tied stuff in a neat bow and a lot of his movie titles HELP u, if u need that. I need to see if Chiraq is playing locally. No apparent successors for this provocative visionary. I DID hear that a School Daze sequel was in the works

hmmm A School Daze sequel? Well if this is true, that would be a first for Spike to agree to a sequel. On the other hand, seeing a version of School Daze in today's times wouldn't be so bad....if done right.

Crooklyn, Do the Right Thing and Malcolm X and When the Levees Broke are my favorite Spike Lee films.

He is a good filmmaker and his work is nearly always interesting.
