here is another excellent source of information about early human civilizations, lost cultures and newly discovered early building sites.

.

Civilization Lost - https://www.youtube.com/w...tmhB2ZwqJs

.

this documentary takes us to various ancient sites, addresses the similarities between different cultures' flood mythologies, and speaks to the possibility that there may have been human civilizations around the time of gobekli tepe which were subsequently wiped out by natural disaster, likely a flood caused by earthquake tsunami, meteor impact, or other.

.

i like this show because it does not insist on supporting one theory or another, and does not hesitate to say 'we don't know yet'. it explores possibilities with an open mind.

Pre-Noseless Depictions of the Great Sphinx

pre noseless sphinx as depicted by artist Vivant Denon (1798)

Vivant Denon

drew this image of the Sphinx of Giza around 1798, prior to its defacement.

This image and written account (a part of the collection) is from the 1803 issue of Universal Magazine. From that same magazine, here is the written account in Denon's own words,

"...Though its proportions are colossal, the outline is pure and graceful; the expression of the head is mild, gracious, and tranquil; the character is African, but the mouth, and lips of which are thick, has a softness and delicacy of execution truly admirable; it seems real life and flesh.

Vivant Denon
Writer
Dominique Vivant, Baron Denon was a French artist, writer, diplomat, author, and archaeologist. He was appointed as the first Director of the Louvre museum by Napoleon after the Egyptian campaign of ...Wikipedia

then this (well respected) nobleman had this to say about his find at his first view of "the great sphinx.

French Traveller Constantine de Volney, in Egypt (1783-85)

(De Volney was a French nobleman who was much troubled by the institution of slavery. His expressed opinion that the ancient Egyptians were black Africans much departed from the typical European view of the late eighteenth century, but it gave many people cause for reflection.)

"When I visited the Sphinx, I could not help thinking that the figure of that monster furnished the true solution to the enigma (of how the modern Egyptians came to have their mulatto' appearance)

(It's features) were those of the negro.. (the Egyptians therefore must have been) real negroes, of the same species of the natives of Africa.

...How are we astonished when we reflect that to the race of negroes, at present our slaves, and the objects of our extreme contempt, we owe our arts, sciences, and even the very use of speech; and when we recollect that in the midst of those nations who call themselves the friends of liberty and humanity, the most barbarous of slaveries is justified, and that it is even a problem whether the understanding of negroes be of the same species with that of white men!"

In other words the ancient Egyptians were true Negroes of the same stock as all the autochthonous peoples of Africa and from the datum one sees how their race, after some centuries of mixing with the blood of Romans and Greeks, must have lost the full blackness of its original colour but retained the impress of its original mould."

hmmm

i always wondered (long before this) why so many of the early egyptian artifacts had noses defaced and totally removed.

so according to two french travelers of the time (circa late 17th century) the original facial features were "negroid."

What makes you think that's why there are damaged noses on some Egyptian statues? Also, did you try a search for ancient Egyptian statues/other art with intact noses?

No - I have a lot of time for people who challenge established theories. Not, though, for people who consistently fail to prove their assertions and who make a good living from appearances, books and DVDs on the back of it. They have no intention of being taken seriously, and many of them don't even believe it themselves. Or, at least, you have to assume the ones that have been caught falsifying "evidence" know they're talking shite.

sad part is the many of today's people are so unaware of the historical truths. seems keeping folk programmed to look up to the master eduacators as true and factual historians. not a pack of liars.

and yes your right about current destruction and looting of valuable historical sites.

some folk are determined to find out the factual truths.

These people are charlatans. If they were serious, they'd be presenting any evidence properly - not via you tube videos and suchlike. They know their evidence isn't actually evidence at all - that's why they do it that way. They can be safely ignored, until they demonstrate that they wish to be taken seriously.

Like I've stated before, I believe that there is a great deal of information that modern man simply doesn't have. Example; Do we even understand how they built the Pyramids? That is fairly straight forward engineering.

Indeed there is a great deal we don't know - that's why we look! Regarding your example - if it's straight forward engineering, why would there be doubt about how they were built? In any case, in relation to the credibility of Hancock et al, that's irrelevant.

Like I've stated before, I believe that there is a great deal of information that modern man simply doesn't have. Example; Do we even understand how they built the Pyramids? That is fairly straight forward engineering.

My personal readings I will go off of Thiaoouba Prophecy since that theory has not been tested. Supposedly the Great Pyramid was a scaled down version of the destroyed pyramid from Savanasa (MU) built by Thoth as well. The Great Pyramid was structured for a place of worship and prayer. One that civilization was ended, the latter anchient egyptians used it as a burial place for their king etc.

"Pyramid" is a word which has a meaning in Greek, the language that uses alphabet bsed on the alphabet of Mu. "Pyr" means "fire" like in "pyrotechnic". Pyramida means "concentration of fire". Today we would say "concentration of energy". WHAT energy? To find out what sciences we have lost on Earth and why, read Thiaoouba Prophecy.

The Great Pyramid (Cheops) was built as a cosmic tool 17,000 years ago by Toth, a great man from Atlantis, using electro-ultrasound for cutting stone and electrogravity generating devices to transport them through a period of 9 years. That way, precisely cut stones up to 200,000 tonnes (!!!), were transported from distant quarries and assembled with phenomenal precision, without any mortar and without any damage to surfaces and edges. Other pyramids in Egypt we constructed much later, after Mu and Atlantis sunk down, priests and establishment abused the technology to promote their "egos" and erected many useless "tombs" to impress people, who were kept in the dark, much like today.

As the nuclear powered antigravity generating devices were losing power, "tombs" had to be smaller and smaller... Eventually, nuclear fuel decayed and no one could lift anything anymore...

Note: Pyramids in South America, Mexico etc.. had different purpose than The Great Pyramid, hence their different shapes.

There is much talk about Thoth in Egyptian and even Greek text.

nice. thanks for the link. mr. hancock is an excellent source. as he points out, mainstream archeologists and historians have no hypothesis whatsoever that addresses the possibility that humanity was civilized before sumeria, and yet we are now finding the ruins of civilizations that predate those cultures by thousands of years.

.

and it's clear that with the discovery of places like gobekli tepe and gunung padang our views of history will have to radically change, but i think this can only be for the best.

.

i'm one of those who believe that atlantis existed; why would plato have any reason to lie about what he heard? why would anyone lie about what plato recounted?? how can he be respected for everything else he wrote, but not that?

.

anyway, i'm fascinated by the time period of 15,000 BC. i think there were well-developed civilizations here on earth but they were wiped out by some type of event. unfortunately, this planet is violently unstable and has always gone through severe warming/cooling trends, either naturally or through volcanic events so it could have been something like whatever flash-froze the siberian mammoth they found frozen in mid-bite.

.

if there is some other type of recurring cyclical event that dogs humanity like every 26,000 or 12,000 years earth orbits through a debris field and gets smacked by comets with resulting killer tsunamis that would be nice to have a heads up about too. i'd just really like to know what we're missing....

Since its first exploration by archaeologists in 1914 the site was thought to be a natural hill with 2500 year-old megalithic structures on top of it. But in 2010 geologist Dr Danny Hilman Natawidjaja (who earned his doctorate at Cal Tech) recognized this “hill” as a possible man-made pyramid and began to explore it using ground penetrating radar, seismic tomography, resistivity survey and other remote sensing techniques, as well as some direct excavations and deep core drilling.

.

The results were immediately intriguing (see this article I wrote in January for background: http://grahamhancock.com/...y-hancock/) producing evidence of deeply buried man-made chambers and yielding carbon dates going back as far as 26,000 years. This was the last Ice Age when our ancestors are supposed (according to the orthodox archaeological model) to be have been nothing more than primitive hunter gatherers incapable of large-scale construction and engineering feats.

.

Was it possible that geologist Natawidjaja was unearthing the proof of a lost advanced civilization of prehistoric antiquity? Such ideas are heresy to mainstream archaeologists and sure enough the archaeological establishment in Indonesia banded together against Dr Natawidjaja and his team, lobbied the political authorities, agitated locally and succeeded in slowing down, though not completely stopping, the further exploration of Gunung Padang.

.

Dr Natawidjaja fought back, doing some high-level lobbying of his own, taking the matter to the President of Indonesia himself. There were further delays to do with elections in Indonesia but just a couple of months ago, in mid-August 2014, the final obstacles were lifted and Dr Natawidjaja and his team moved back onto the Gunung Padang site with full approval to go ahead with their work, including permission to excavate the concealed chambers.

.

Archaeologists were furious and immediately began lobbying to get the work stopped – fortunately to no avail as preliminary excavations have produced results that prove beyond doubt that Gunung Padang in indeed a man-made pyramid of great antiquity as Dr Natawidjaja had long ago proposed. Even the relatively young layer so far excavated (the second artificial columnar rock-layer beneath the megalithic site visible on the surface) has yielded dates of 5200 BC (nearly 3000 years older than the orthodox dating for the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt) and there are firm indications from the original remote sensing and core drilling work of much older layers below. In short, it is now evident to all that the site is vastly older than the 2500 years that archaeologists had insisted upon for decades. Even the most hostile amongst them are therefore now reframing their assessment of the site and referring to it as “a gigantic terraced tomb, which was part of the biggest megalithic culture in the archipelago.”

this is the stuff they do not teach in high school or jr college history. i wonder why

anyway, some folk worked very dilligently to make sure they erased any proof of thriving afrikoid civilizations.

What makes you think that's why there are damaged noses on some Egyptian statues?

I can't even take this as a serious question.
