That scene in the trailer that shows a trench on a snowy planet. Perhaps hinting of a throwback to a trench run like in A New Hope? Whoahhhhh. And in 3D iMax too. Get in! razz

It's a fake. We still dont know Finn's "connection", whether he's related to Lando or Mace Windu or some other brotha from the galaxy far, far away, but that toy is a fake. I saw a whole breakdown of it at makingstarwars.net...I cant paste it though.

Billy Dee Williams isn't in the movie at all, so you wouldn't find out til episode 8 in 2017 if Finn disgraced his father Lando by becoming a stormtrooper.

Unlike most blockbusters these days, no one can watch any Force Awakens trailer and feel like they know how the movie will unfold. The rollout of this film has been close to flawless.

I paid for an admiral Akbar action figure back in 1983 by mail order. It still hasn't showed up. I'm starting to get pissed off. He's the lotus flower t shirt of galaxies far far away. If it doesn't turn up soon, I'm
going to lodge a complaint.

They made us wait so long that I am no longer anticipating this movie on a daily basis. I just can't wait forever. But I'm going to my sold out showing and after seeing it then I will be a fan again. I wish they would have released the novelization before the movie so I could know the story. Two major spoilers that I am aware of are why they didn't.

I wish they wouldn't release ANY books or other spoiler-filled media out beforehand. There's always someone who decides to tell everyone and ruin it for them.

An ordinary farmboy must learn the ways of a Jedi knight to save the rebellion which stands against an empire.

Star Wars is no "masterpiece of synthesis" or "triumph of American ingenuity;" it is a fraudulent copy of several good works of literature. Lucas steals the ideas of Frank Herbert in his work entitled Dune and plagiarizes even more off of unknown novel I cannot recall as it is so obscure, he felt no need to give it credit. I have heard arguments which claim that The Lord of the Rings is just as childish, but those arguments ignore the fact that The Lord of the Rings is a blatant and outright statement, a parallel to the horrors of the First World War. Additionally, the acting is phenomenal, the characters have depth, and the story has meaning. The authors of such arguments clearly view the battle scenes as similar to Star Wars, only having appeal because of the special effects. But things such as the gigantic war elephants actually represent something, whereas nothing is representative of anything in Star Wars. These elephants represent tanks, the new and deadly weapon that were finally used more frequently in war. I can overlook the discrepancies, such as the fact that the first time the Death Star was used it took but a few seconds to fire, but when the are attacking Yavin, they must maneuver around the planet to reach the moon, as there are such discrepancies in most movies. However I cannot ignore the lack of depth each of the characters has: Luke is like Dakota Fanning in War of the Worlds--he is paid to whine, and whine, and scream, and whine. "But Uncle Owen, I was going to go the Anchorhead Arcade, I don't want to work on the droids." His character is painfully dull, and the actor, Mark Hamill, lacks any sort of talent. None of the characters are relatable, none of them have any complexity. They are all straightforward representations of archetypes, with no combinations of emotions--in fact, they seem like the have no emotions whatsoever. Everything is superficial--I enjoy Star Trek: The Motion Picture ten thousand times more than Star Wars, and The Motion Picture is one of the most painful movies I have ever watched. Watching Star Wars, I can picture each actor--if they may be so honored by such a title--with a script in front of their eyes. It seems they are only reading; a common acting saying goes, "Show, don't tell," but I have never been told a more boring story. Besides the painful, shallow acting, the plot is poorly written. There are no twist or turns, no interesting facets or components which one does not expect to appear; everything is predictable, everything is as plain as can be. Star Wars is "a masterpiece of synthesis:" I don't think I have ever seen a movie so perfectly blend plagiarism, horrid acting, a lack of depth and emotion and complexities, and so many other despicable aspects. As for its "ingenuity:" well, if plagiarism and poor writing, acting, and characters constitute ingenuity, then this movie deserves a 10 out of 10--if not, Star Wars most definitely deserves nothing but scorn. Why so many have found this movie so enthralling I will never understand.

Well, just a random thought here, maybe it is because it was a movie made for KIDS and to entertain, which it did perfectly for KIDS... Those kids grew up and are nostalgic about these flicks and still entertained by them... Who cares if it shallow popcorn garbage?

Kids these days love garbage like "Transformers", "Avengers" and all those bullshit Marvel tie-in movies, let them enjoy it... If you don't like it then don't watch it, it's really as simple as that...

I'm sick to death of all the hype and commercial tie-ins already. Everybody from car dealers to candy makers are trying to cash in.

And the commercials are everywhere as if they don't know that everybody and their aunt fanny is already going to see it.

All I know is Disney better not screw this up or Imma be maaad. lol

I have no source (well, it was one of those youtube videos) but apparently, both George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have seen the movie...Lucas said it was "great", Spielberg has reportedly already seen it 3 times and predicts it will be the biggest movie EVER. 3 days and counting...

Good catch!

Also any Europeans or Australians that get to see it a day early should create a new thread since this is about to autolock. And keep your mf spoilers out of the title!

just got home from seeing it. Pretty damn good. Hard to fault. Abrams has done such a good job that I fear that it will be hard for the next director to maintain the standard set. It felt like Star Wars, but also felt like something new too.

Spot on. He found the balance of old and new. I thought Daisy Ridley stole the show. She was epic.

Can't believe I've got to wait 2 years until the next one!
