R U "MISS. UNDERSTOOD"?

What do you see when you first look at this picture? It might look strange, doesn't it? It might look dangerous. It might look like it can pose a threat. But look closer; what does the words on the TOP say? Well, it's backwards. But if you look closely; it says "Miss. Understood" backwards. And it's basically a homophonic pun of "misunderstood".

What does it say on the person's chest? Look closely, and it says "Friend" backwards.

What does it say about near the lower left-bottom of the picture (not the signature).

Well it says this: "Network failure. Unable to connect", of course it says it backwards.

But why do you ask everything is backwards? Well because it's backwards from the point of where you see it, but not Miss. Understood's point of view.

The "Network failure", is basically talking about how they wish they could connect to the internet; but they can't and THAT's why it looks like there's a big storm. Because they are fed up that they can't connect to the internet. And in this artwork drew by me, the internet here is like a metaphor for other people! Potential friends and whomever else. As Miss Understood is looking and noticing how she can't connect with people; the outsiders and narrow-minded views that as "nonsense" and "backwards".

Also, Miss. Understood only wants to be friends with the "internet" and make more friends. But she feels that the world around her views her as what? Exactly; misunderstood. And as she's mispercieved by folks, she makes it her name and looks at it from her point of view; while everybody else sees it as "being backwards" or whatever but they're not looking closely.

The resaon why I show you this is because when I drew this whole picture in Ecology class last year; I felt that was me. I am Miss. Understood, and I'll say it proudly. At least that's who I was.

The reason why I'm showing all of you fellow, lovely Purple Politicians is because this is who I DON'T WANT TO BE ANYMORE. I've made up my mind that I can't be this depressed person anymore and I MUST CHANGE. For a good me; for a healthy me; mentally AND physically. For the best version of me, so that I can be successful and MAKE SOMETHING OF MYSELF.

My goal is to connect with more people this last year in high school; and make it count. I'm use to trying to stay in touch with old friends but in REALITY they've moved on and most of them probably wasn't even real friends in the first place. But I'm in the process of changing.

I'm soon going to meet up with my doctor so I can work out a REAL, healthy diet. This diet won't just change my weight. It's basically a metaphor for me becoming a better person and changing!

I'm going in to my senior year; inside a bad person. BUT I'm leaving senior year, a BETTER PERSON. And a HAPPIER person! I'm gonna FIGHT for my HAPPINESS! And eventually have the ability to LOVE myself again. And the ability to RESPECT and APPRECIATE who I am; INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. I'm just in the process of training my mind, so that my body will follow.

If anyone has ever felt like "Miss. Understood" before and has survived that depression; or if you still feel like that. Please share what's on your mind if you want to.

Thank you, Purple-Army. And THANK YOU SO MUCH for the people who read all of this. I REALLY DO APPRECIATE THAT!

God-bless

This is a tribute for anyone that may have had a certain social problem, and was perceived from their surrounding peers as misunderstood or was never that good at making connections with most people.....

If you go through this right now, don't worry. Just make up your mind and work on these problems you may be facing. You WILL be successful and sooner or later! You WILL be happy!

Just remember that there have been so many of us who have felt this way in high school and that high school is not the END ALL and BE ALL. There is a whole world out there made up of all kinds of diverse and different people. High school is a gold fish bowl and there is life beyond that--remember "different" can be a positive thing... A lot of us who felt "different" are on this site because Prince's music and personna once stood for the "oddlings" who didn't quite fit in to the mainstream and were "misunderstood." I admire your insight and determination--it reminds me of my last grueling year of high school (worse because of family problems). My mantra at the time...and for bad times now: "This, too, shall pass..." Best of luck to you! The future is your's! thumbs up!

Absolutely true, and, at the time I hated the fact that people didn't understand me or my thought processes or take on life. Now, decades on I can look back and be proud that, although I was different, I didn't change for anyone, I stuck to my loves in life and, you know what? I turned out okay (at least I think I did) smile

I like this. I had the same issues in high school. Unfortunately for me I did not make it out of a rut until I turned 28 or so. Still a daily struggle but changing my diet and my workout routine helped a lot. Trying to stay positive also helps but being raised in a negative environment tends to stick with me no matter what I do. Helping people for a living keeps me grounded. Also, Prince's music always helped me believe there was hope and is one of the main reasons I came here years ago....under a different screen name. Don't worry, life gets better. Some people just have more bumps in the road than others.

That's one of the reasons I like Prince and got into him. The Dirty Mind-Controversy era is one of my favorites because of that.

thanks and best of luck to you too!

Thanks for everyone's kind words and sharing your views and experiences.

Later on, I think I'm going to make a colloge of positive quotes and mostly from what everyone here on this thread says; and make a poster out of it to help and keep me motivated
