You can watch this on you tube, it's a follow up to the episode mirror mirror. Christopher Doohan (Son of actor James Doohan) does a great Scotty. Check it out

As a Star Trek series fan, that doesn't detour me in the least. It has Chekov, tuvok and the doctor. I'm seeing it all the way through.

I enjoyed of gods and men. It was Star Trek corny but so nostalgic I nuzzled right in.

Though i havent seen it yet I understand renegade is the beginnings for a new web series and the movie is the pilot. Hope they work out the glitches.

I'm getting to the other web series but I was so excited at the prospect of seeing ST alumni I had to get to that first.

A group of fans has crowdsourced the seven-figure “Star Trek: Axanar,” and rights holders CBS and Paramount are doing nothing to stop it

The original “Star Trek” franchise has inspired countless fan-made films over its nearly 50 years, but a new amateur production in the works titled “Star Trek: Axanar” represents a warp-drive leap from its predecessors — the movie has raised $1.13 million in crowdfunding so far, making it one of the highest-financed fan films ever made.

Originally seeking just $100,000 from a Kickstarter campaign, “Axanar’s” producers eventually generated nearly seven times that, raising more than $638,000. On Indiegogo, the crew made 189 percent of their target sum.

They’ve since budgeted the feature film, which will be broken into four installments, at a total of $960,000, or $240,000 per episode. The seven-figure bankroll raises questions about just how “fan” the project is and at what point it poses a threat to the authorized franchise.

“It’s not a traditional fan film, and doesn’t have those limitations with it,” executive producer Alec Peters told TheWrap, justifying “Axanar’s” relatively sizable budget. “Although we fall under the fan movie, we’ve tried to make the product as good as coming out of the studio.”

- See more at: https://www.thewrap.com/h...XgUsn.dpuf

“CBS has a long history of accepting fan films,” Peters said. “I think ‘Axanar’ has become so popular that CBS realizes that we’re just making their brand that much better.” Previous Kickstarter- and Indiegogo-funded fan films include “Star Trek: Of Gods and Men,” which generated $150,000 in donations in 2006 and “Star Trek: Renegades,” which drew a collective $375,000 from both platforms in 2014. “Axanar” has generated more than twice those productions combined, allowing Peters’ team to lease a warehouse in Valencia, California, for three years and build a set to make their movie “as compelling as the studio films.” CBS and Paramount’s habit of looking the other way on fan films runs counter to the policy pursued by 20th Century Fox just last month when it shut down a project based on the “Alien” franchise. According to Digital Spy, the homegrown production had cast Carrie Henn, who starred in the 1986 film “Aliens.” One reason why CBS and Paramount aren’t cracking down on “Axanar” may be that that Peters claims to be limiting the use of “Star Trek” logos and likenesses and using only three protected characters, all relatively obscure: Garth of Izar from the original “Star Trek” TV series, the Vulcan from “Star Trek: Enterprise” and General Chang from the film “Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.” - See more at: https://www.thewrap.com/h...VwZgc.dpuf

Renegades, it was different, not really Star Trekkish in a lot of areas, still lots of familiar tie-ins to all the other series though, so I see potential and I liked it, looking forward to more. Needs a strong dynamic Star Trek type leader, sorry Walter, but that's not his stand out point.

Got a bit misty at the Admiral Nimoy Memorial, and the TOS crew picture on the wall.

eek Didn't know all this Star Trek stuff was going on. ST will never die! I'm still waiting for a show where the Enterprise "wormholes" it's way into the Star Wars universe. lol

USS Enterprise is transported to a galaxy far, far away...

Not too far fetched, Renegades had the actor boy from Terminator 2 and a actor from one of SG 1 seasons and Im sure others from other shows.

Oh wow only 3? I think I ended up watching episode2. The guy who plays Kirk completely reminds me of Kirk.

I love Star Trek Continues! I am also fond of some of the Star Trek: New Voyages episodes. I think this is the best of the lot. It has George Takei as a guest star:

Star Trek continues has episode 4 out now and episode 5 will be out 9/24/15. Hope they make more. They really captured the feel of the original series.

OK just watched Renagades

The Pro's

Production Value is way better now than that of Gods and men. Everything from quality, CGI, Lighting, editing, music,.

Liked Tuvok and Chekov

Con's

Ok, story was boring. Didn't really care for the cast of the Renagades. Lexxa was very uninteresting and didn't care about her mom dying as a kid.

Icheb from Voyager was interesting and so was Gary Graham (Alien Nation as well as from star trek enterprise playing Vulcan Soval). Vic Mignogna (Capt. Kirk from Star Trek Continues) was good in it as Cardassian Garis but then they killed him off. The rest not so much. Ronora was pretty to look at though.

Needed more Tuvok and the Doctor in it. Honestly they should try to get as many former Star Trek cast memebers in it like they did with Of Gods and men. Of Gods and Men would have been so much better if the production value was better. Looked like college kids working on their first movie

Hated the sets for Star Fleet HQ, whats with all the orange. Hated the uniforms as well. It had the look of the original series though it should have looked more like Voyager.

The new crew doesn't feel star trekkie but then they are renegades, less orderly. Still kind of weird though. I don't get why people are upset by the Nimoy memorial. They think it should be the Spock memorial. I think the Nimoy one makes the most sense, they're not in that Universe memorializing Spock but another Admiral.

On the Reading Rainbow set.
