CynicKill's Book List: Three Books You Wouldn't Expect To Be So Great!

Monica's Story I feel is a must-read for every young girl in America. There's so much to learn and you really get into this young woman's life. Surprising considering she was in her early twenties when she wrote it.

Written out of desperation, Monica's Story has powerful moments of wisdom that seem like common sense. The main takeaway is to not give yourself over to a guy, especially an unavailable one. Have a life of your own. Get your own damn job! These are facts a Monica in a moment of clarity would've realized. Another takeaway is to keep secrets and privacy. And it's not enough to "be" smart, you have to rely on it and act smart as well. Good reading!

The best thing about The Glitter Plan is that it shows that more money and a bigger company will do nothing for you. Reading these two follow thier passions in their own scrappy way and making it work despite lack of experience is a motivational story. They had it all and had a blast doing it. But when greener pastures presented itself they bought in and threw it all to hell. It's a primer on bigger not always being better, especially if you're already happy.

Knee Deep in Paradise is a truly great book! I recommend everyone to read this book immediately. It's not one of those typical celebrity bios that proliferate the bookshelves and that was probably to its detriment. Who knew Brett Butler could write like this? If personal struggles didn't derail her career in such a vindictive way she really could've been a literary force. Her bio sure was. Harper Lee is one of her favorite authors. She seems to have learned every lesson from that book and more. It's not the cheeriest of reads but you'll feel like you've truly lived after reading Knee Deep!

I just recently read this. Brando Skyhorse is a great writer. This is his second novel and definitely woth the time.

If a man is considered guilty
For what goes on in his mind
Then give me the electric chair
For all my future crimes"
