Directv is full of shit

These mofos trying to shit me. I was paying 37 dollars and some change with discounts for the first year of my contract with the NFL ticket included free for the first year. Now it seems these muthafuckers are trying to recoup that shit by steadily increasing my bill. After 6 or 7 months it increased to 41 dollars after the first discount expired. Then the last 3 months the shit increased to 51 dollars. All this is for their Choice package. Last month was the final month for the first year of my contract and I was told it would be 67 dollars and I got a fucking bill for 89.29. My mom has the same package and pays just over 70 dollars. My mother in law has the package just above mine and pay 65. WTF? They only want to either cut my bill five dollars for the current package I have or lower my bill by stripping of most of the programming I have. I see these crooks were just acquired last week by AT&T and the FCC is already on their ass for their business practices. Almost half of their programming is bullshit infomercial channels. The only reason I gave their ass another chance is because of NFL ticket but it's not worth the eventual bullshit they play. I'm gonna watch my shows this week and if they still wanna bullshit me I'll tell them to come get their shit and be done with them. Buying out the remaining 11 months is cheaper than paying this shit. I'll go back to my local cable company. At least they are straight with you and don't sneak fees and shit on you and have more bang for your buck without all the damn infomercial channels and are good the first 2 years bundled with internet and phone. Fuck Directv. mad

I just got off the phone with those theiveing SOBs at ATT trying to double bill me for internet service....bastids! I had to go around and around with them for fourty minutes, not counting time on hold. mad

After I told them to cancel my service so I could call Comcast they quickly found a way to provide me some affordable options.

A family member of mine used to work for ATT and he told me how extreme the sales pressure is. He works for another telecom now and is much happier......higher salary too.

Bastids!

AT&T is crooked, Hell, they all are. lol

Last year I finally convinced my mother she needed to get rid of her LAN line, cell phone and net service. First AT&T throttled down her bandwith, then AT&T told her they could come out and fix her phone in a month. You heard me a, Month lol

The issue wasn't her phone but the damn line on the pole... which had been eaten up by squirrels. This isn't an uncommon accurence, so why didn't the AT&T tech guy for her area check the phones lines regularly?

AT&T lied when they said, they had put up lines for high speed internet a year ago. AT&T just put those lines up 3 weeks ago. They came out a year ago and told her area had high speed net, they wanted to know if she wanted to sign up, right then. When my mother said no... all of a sudden her internet slows to a crawl. When she complained, AT&T said she could forgo broadband for high speed. Not to speak of the 8 buck here and 9 bucks on her bill for some service she never had. When she complained, the charge would disappear, a month or two another mysterious charge would pop-up. hmm

I hear ya. I am giving those sons of dogs 30 days to comply or else, and I will be watching them like a hawk because they like to give you a low rate and sneak extra charges in your bill. You literally have to call and waste your time arguing with them every couple of months just to keep them honest.

ATT buying directTV is the worst thing that could happen to poor Phunkdaddy. disbelief

I insist on keeping my landline since it's the only thing that keeps working in a hurricane and also because they keep trying to talk me out of it. lol They try to force everybody to take uverse because it's less costs for them but it is not necessarily better for the customers in my experience.

I made it clear that if they didn't stop the fuckery I would only pay for basic phone service and get my internet elsewhere. I already cancelled my cell service with them.

We have Comcast cable Internet.

We stream news / movies / TV using Raspberry Pi / with software Kodi (XBMC), for "free". We do donate to Kodi and TVAddons, its only fair. There's nothing on cable that you can't watch on Kodi expect for most sporting events viewed via cable.

As far a greed and NFL...

Its my understanding the package deals have contribute to the high cost for cable and big money makers for the NFL and college basketball / football. For years the cable companies claimed that cable packages were a necessity to keep cable cost down. Out of all the basic bundled cable providers ESPN receives the most money, 7 dollars from each bundled package.

It seems to me cable companies and ESPN work in tandem to keep people tied to packages... they were able to get in everybodies pocket, sports fan or not. Its was a win and fleece game for all parties. Streaming has kinda blown up the plan. Folks are in no ways streaming as they will be and yet ESPN is cutting their high paid sportcasters and programming left and right. Streaming has cut in on their bottom line.

I'm old skool, I from the generation that once listened to sports on the radio. If the sports isn't on free TV, radio it is. lol --------------------------------------

THIS. This is the only way to keep them in check as their revolving door of staff is almost useless (likely due to the sales pressure and fear). I had Dish for a contract, I literally had a log of reps for each month that I called that I could refer to ("check Anthonys notes from April, he seemed like he knew what he was doing"). Trip them up on top of themselves and they'll be very accomodating. Most times they cannot find a previous "associate" as they aren't associated for very long.

.

Ditch the cable! Its like giving up meat or soda but truth is the alternatives are affordable and they want that cash you'd give to the mega corporate overlords.

.

I prepay for errything. No more contracts.

I feel for you. All that shit is a scam. Garbage service and mostly garbage programing. Me, what i did was i got rid of all of it. For over two years now, i haven't watched TV or had Cable. The only thing i have is internet service(through COX) and the speeds kinda suck. I pay 38 bucks a month for internet service and use it to watch programs and movies on Netflix, YouTube, movies for one, and websites that stream TV stations. I stream newscasts from the channel's website. And when i feel like watching movies that aren't on Netflix(which are a lot) i just dl them from * sites. The reason i stopped watching regular TV was because where i used to live, the over the air reception was so bad that i could only get a few channels. I got so tired of constantly being frustrated that i said fuck it, I'm done with all of it. And haven't looked back. Until the cable companies(and dish companies) get their shit together. I'm not fuc**** with them.

Once again. I feel for you.

Rest in Peace Bettie Boo. See u soon.

Websites of...

Kodi

TVAddons

Raspberry Pi

Kodi / TV Addons Media SD Cards

OpenELEC / you see OSMC on this link too.

OSMC

Note:
Kodi and TVAddons are seperate entities, but TVaddons runs within Kodi. You can also download Kodi / TVAddons via a laptop or notebook computer... depending on you computer specs. You could connect your notebook or laptop to your TV via HDMI, RCA, or media outlets on your computer / TV. You can find computer specs requirments on eiher of the sites I've linked. Its been my experience any notebook or laptop with 3 /4 GB of RAM can run Kodi; I'm running Kodi on a 9 year old HP 32bit very smoothly. Configuring Kodi / TVAddons for a laptop / notebook is less involved than programming a SD card. Instructions on how to configure Kodi / TVAddons for a computer can be found on the TVAddons website.

Raspberry PI kit can be purchased at ($69.00) Amazon.com. Everything you'll need, minus the Media SD card. A SD card comes with the kit, its the Raspbian Linux OS. OpenElec and OSMC run on Raspiberry Pi's only. You can connect an external self powered HD to your Pi to the ethernet port on your router as a media server. Using UPnP or Apple Air-play will allow you do watch Kodi and your media and music collections from your computers, smartphones, tablets and TV.

Finally. smile

Android sale media servers with Kodi / XBMC preinstalled, most of these "boxes" can be rooted to add TVAddons. I haven't been impressed with the Android media boxes for these reasons...

  • Adding TVAddons takes some know how and in some instances may not be supported.
  • Android (Kodi ) Boxes have a different update time table than Kodi Linux. System update for Kodi havppen every six months. You can use a Kodi version as long as it works but at some point updated channels will have software dependency issues.
  • It's a pain in the ass to program Android boxes because Android / Kodi media servers don't come installed with TVAddons.
  • Android boxes have flooded the market, many of these boxes will bite the dust. This means if your company that makes your media server closes its doors, you'll be stuck with a paper weight, no updates, and no support.

Raspberry Pi isn't going anywhere and you have total control over updates and how its programmed. With a SD card, you'll either update or reprogram your media server if you need to update it or if the SD card becomes corrupted. I wouldn't let learning how to program a SD scare you off. With every update, the Kodi / TVaddon teams are making it easier and easier fo the layperson to program and update and use their software. If you have any questions, org me.

P.S. You can download Kodi remote from Apple or Android / Googe Play store for free. You can also install Kodi to Android tablets. You can't install Kodi on an Apple iPad's / iPhone/ iPod unless its been jailbroken. Once upon a time you could install Kodi on Apple TV but Apple shut that down.

That's all folks. Fight the power! lol lol lol

My bill was $137/month until call and told them I was about 2 cancel.

They adjusted it down to $80 and all I lost was NBA TV.

I'm experimenting with a Roku box, WD Live TV, Netflix and Hulu soon.

I may just cut the cord completely on Directv/cable.

I need 2 figure out how 2 get a DVR into the process.

Once I do that, Directv is history.

I'm experimenting with a Roku box, WD Live TV, Netflix and Hulu soon.

I may just cut the cord completely on Directv/cable.

I need 2 figure out how 2 get a DVR into the process.

Once I do that, Directv is history.

I'm fine with my Roku by my fuckwit family member refuses to cut the cord so I charge him for it.

I already have an HD antenna that I use anyway on Sundays just for the crisper picture when

NFL games are on NBC, Fox, and CBS. I will definitely explore the streaming market

as well.

.

Its the way to be! Even HBO and Showtime are available standalone now. Their ship is sinking lol.

How is your Roku working? Do you have the netflix deal or Hulu deal with it? How many options

of free channels you get ? I was looking at a deal they have with Sling TV where you get ESPN, TBS,Cartoon, and quite a few other regularly programming networks.

I see Gray said he's already working with a Roku box also Gold Standard and TD3 was telling me about the Pi device.

Definitely looking into it because I'm gonna stop doing these contract things as well. I stopped

doing it with cell phone service a few years ago and cable is next.

My unit works great and I'm on my son's netflix account. There are plenty of free and paid channels to choose from. The best thing I like about it is that I can get all of the informative programming that used to be on Discovery and TLC before they started airing brain-rot content.

Lots of free documentaries too.

Also, checkout Plex

Very much like Kodi /TVADDONS. They charge $4.99 a month, $39.99 a year, or $139. 00 lifetime; you can share your account with others, at no additional cost. This may be the perfect allternative to those who aren't feeling the Raspberry Pi. In this case you don't have to program anything...

A lot more info can be found on the 'Tube' and at Plex website.
