The problem is that when you actually see some of these movies they don't deserve that huge operatic dark music with choirs and shit. they actually come across as kind of silly with weak characters and plots. I heard audiences laughing at stuff in the last Superman movie, and that had the same kind of all important big serious operatic trailer.

I think it's awesome and I don't like comic book movies. Well, at least I don't like non-DC comic book movies. Which means for me, comic book movies have been few and far between as compared to Brand X comic book movies.

But I am looking forward to seeing this comic book movie. And I, like any good American, is rooting for Superman.

"Superman is an illegal alien". falloff

I've already made up my mind long ago to see it. Avoiding as many trailers as possible though.

I think the batman with the funny voice guy had a similar trailer....that movie was quite epic. Half hour too long maybe...but I enjoyed it lots...even dudes fucked voice.

I have a question about comic book heroes. Keep in mind, I haven't read comics, or graphic novels, since around 1975. But I was a huuuuuuuge Superman fan, and also a big fan of Batman and most other DC heroes.

But are comic book heroes only an American thing? Do other countries have comic books, and comic book heroes? It seems like every movie based on a comic book is from an American character.

Does anime count? Are there live-action movies based on Japanese (or other country) anime characters?

But mainly I am interested in non-American superheroes. Who are they?

About comic movies. Fuck em'. I haven't seen The Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy and I can already say uninspired and unoriginal and I don't like stupid movies. And please don't give me that "It's just a entertaining movie, nothing more" argument. "Watcha gonna do brother" flipped off

Quite a lot has been written about American superheroes essentially being a replacement for the mythology that older cultures have, and there's certainly merit to that argument.

There are a few Scottish superheroes I can think of, but they're all American creations.

I may be wrong but I believe Judge Dredd is a British comic book.

I loved the trailer. Can't wait to see this movie as well as Justice League and the Wonder Woman movie as well as the Suicide Squad.

Gatchaman movie from 2013 based on the 70s anime:

The anime was dubbed and re-edited for the U.S. under the new name Battle of The Planets. Casey Kasem was one of the voices. I loved that cartoon.

Yes, the international heroes that many people have heard of were created by Americans, Wolverine (Canadian) being the most popular by far.

I remember Captain Britain had a fairly big audience in the 80s, but he too was created by Americans before Brits like Alan Moore and Alan Davis made him what he is today.

You no doubt are familiar with the Uncanny X-Men, originally a team of all-American mutants whose title launched in 1963. Well, in 1975 the team underwent a reboot, and its new roster was decidedly international:

Storm - Kenyan

Banshee - Irish

Thunderbird - First Nations

Colossus - Russian

Nightcrawler - German

Wolverine - Canadian

Since that reboot, the X-related titles have done a pretty good job of depicting mutant characters from all over the globe, with some teams stationed in other countries, like Excalibur (UK) and Alpha Flight (Canada).

That's one the reasons I fell in love with X-Men growing up. They were from all over the world, and became a family ❤
