When People Say ''I Liked You The Way You Were Before''

There's always those few people in your life. Who you had a thing for and they wouldn't give you the time of day. And then over the years you work hard on your body (mind and water control too) and they say ''oh you look so good! but i always liked you the way you were before'' -.- nah son! i was a fat fuck before. No one liked me for how i was then. So i know you're lying wink

Basically what i am saying is just be truthful. You can tell someone you like them for the way they are now. And not have to say some social conscious ''i always liked you the way you were before'' bullshit lol. So many people are on this ''body conscious'' tip and pretend to be sensitive to peoples body types. I think all those people are full of shit lol

Nothing wrong with saying ''you look great man! I'm glad you changed your lifestyle and that you're happy and healthy'' other than pretending they have always liked you for your ''personality'' or whatever shit people lie about nowadays neutral

People always project their own shit onto you.

In my first career (waaaayyyyyy back in my 20s), I did a local news show. A guy I dated actually said to me (during a fight), "You know, you aren't anything in real life like you are on TV." I assume he meant that I was always nice and didn't fight on TV. It was then that I realized he had only asked me out because I was on television and it made HIM look good to be dating someone who was on TV.

We might have had two dates after that. And later, my suspicions that he was a starfucker were confirmed when he (briefly) dated a woman who was on another station.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

What those people mean is you're one less person that can say they look better than.

Haters hate when you succeed, because that kills their excuses for not getting into shape.

No More Haters on the Internet.

I feel as though the ones with the issues themselves (either in the past or present) tend to do it the worst. Or influence someone to think their way.

I used to have a really good friend, who I liked a lot and who we shared a lot of common interests. Though overweight, she wasn't huge (86 kilos) and she had only had a baby a year before yet she went ahead with weight loss surgery because, in her words, she was too lazy for diet and exercise. My friend changed beyond all recognition but it was her personality change that leads me to say 'I liked her better before'. The reason for this is that she has become obsessed with her looks to the point where she is almost totally fake. She is a bright hue of orange from fake tan, has overly long hair extensions dyed platinum blonde, wears inappropriate teenage clothes (she's over 40 & looks like a hooker) and refuses to wear flat shoes. She is currently talking of cosmetic surgery. As she lives up a hill in the country this means she has to drive her children the 200m walk to the school bus stop each day. She now has symptoms of anorexia and cannot go out for a coffee or cake because she can't drink/eat a full portion so won't pay for it. In short she is a different person and we are just barely clinging on to speaking terms.

I'll admit I am a little jealous of her new figure - I can't respect it but I would be pleased for her new image if her personality hadn't changed so much too. It's that she no longer talks about anything other than the superficial and if I even try to talk about current affairs with her she now says she's not bothered about 'that stuff' anymore. Saying all this, I've never told her to her face that I liked her better before - we've just gradually grown further & further apart.

Dude, your thread is a little confusing.

Are you saying that people are telling you that they liked you "before" but are lying for some reason?
Or are you having a hard time BELIEVING when someone says that they liked you "before" but NOT the way you are now?

confuse

all I know is that this thread reminds me of one my big sisters (the one I don't like lol), she's always trying to discourage me whenever I wanna try something new (new hair color, new job, new furniture, whatever) and when I do, she always spits this line "I liked it/you better before" (lies)

For those that are confused about what i'm saying.

There's guys who wouldn't give me a chance 5 years ago (cause of my looks) and i've been body building now for 5 years and i'm in good shape. And now they try to holler at me and tell me how good i look... then say ''oh you didn't have to change the way you were i liked you the way you were before'' which is total bullshit lol at the time i was too chubby for them and they only wanted a fit man. Now they wanna pretend they've always liked me for me eek lol

ah, well then, I can only think of two possible scenarios:

a) those friends of yours or whatever are just DUMB as fuck, ignore them, better yet, erase them from your life

b) those friends are like my big sister, and I mean that they're jealous because you've changed for the better of because they're jealous of your ability to improve/change

Not everyone going to happy for you when you take steps to better yourself... looks, job, housing, weight, relationship(s) or whatever. Some folks like it when others are down and out and resent you even more when you turn it around... for the better.

I don't understand it but there it is... Fuck'um and keep it movin'.

Maybe what they liked about you before was not that you looked better, but that you weren't so self-conscious about your looks, that you would accuse someone of being "full of shit" for trying to say something nice to you.
