OK, A SOLUTION MAYBE AT HAND - I thought of not posting this, cuz I'm sure some motherf**er will say it's spam, but it's not - I'm not the maker of this site, I'm not affiliated to it in any way, I simply know about it:

www.bcjukebox.in .

THIS could be a revolution.

We listen to "light FM" music at work.

dead

Believe it or not though...it's better to have THAT than to have dead silence.

Reminds me of my days in retail. Radio had to be set to "family friendly" stations, and the hit ones with hit pop music played the same songlist every 3 hours on the dot, the song Soul Sister by tgrain was particularly annoying (Last year of retail for me was 2010) and some horrible song by some group called Lady Antebellum, whose title I don't remember as I have tried to erase it from my mind.

.

Then there was another station called coast, that my bosses at the Stamp shop insited upon. Coast played songs from about 1945 to 1979 and all were soft pop, country and corny music. Aimed at older people, they played the SAME adbreak every 20 minutes, ads for retirement homes, Geritol, and Herbal ignite erection supplement. Songs were ones like Catch a falling star by Perry Como, Sugartime by the Chordettes, Lots of Pat Boon and Max Bygraves and sing a long with Mitch Mitchell. Aw my God it was AURAL torture.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

lol

Back in High School I worked at Friendly's (that's a chain of restaurants/ice cream parlors) and they actually had a MUZAK box! So we listened to elevator music all day!

I realise how that can misinterpreted, I meant to say Coast onlyplayed the corny songs from that period. I notice they played songs like the Monkees, Petula Clark, Gerry and the Pacemakers, The Hollies, and all the tacky one hit wonders like Lulu, Acker Bilk.

They did not play any good stuff from that period like Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Dylan, Nico, Disco, Eagles, Cher etc, just songs like Mammy Blue, By the devil I was a tempted and Sugartime.

.

I chose 1979 as the latest song they usually played were like Sad Eyes by Robert John and Pop Music by M.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

They also played that song in German called Sailor boy or something, Dominik a nika nik or whatever the fuck it is, Sukiyaki and Tiny Tim, Lawrence Welk, Mantovani, Adam Faith, lots of bad Sinatra and Tony Bennett and pre Rock and Roll songs by Rosemary Clooney, Kay Starr and the Mills Brothers.

In response to the OP's question: would it be possible for you to bring a radio in to work, so you could listen to whatever you wanted? It could solve the problem, but then, other people would probably want to do the same thing. lol Not sure if the place you work at would tolerate it, but several places that I worked at allowed us to have radios where we could listen to our music of choice. Just a suggestion. smile

At my doctor's office they have annoying pop music playing and the annoying daytime TV going AT THE SAME TIME! I'm convinced it's just to keep people sick.

I used to sit next to one coworker (lucky for me, she quit) who played our local Top 40 radio station all the time, and another coworker (lucky for me, she retired) that played Christmas music everyday, all day from Nov 1 to January 1.

I HATED BOTH. And both of these women took it personally and got offended when I wore headphones at my desk.

If you will, so will I

NO MUSIC AT WORK!!

If it's good I will forget my duties and get up on the desk and start shimmying.

If it's not good I will get worn down to my last thread of sanity in a short time.

Listen to music ON THE WAY HOME.
