oktoberfest 2015

for a few yrs now , my buddies and I have joked that when we turn 50 we are going to go to the oktoberfest beer festival - - -

it is upon us ....

I was there years ago ... but we are seriously looking into flights , travel times etc ...

Anyone have any recommendations ? I thought the flight prices would dip alittle about this time ... I think I can get round trip for around 750 - 800 ....

of course I have been in Germany before ... and want to visit a few other sites ... but anything you guys recommend would luv to hear ...

Ehhhm..... no!

Octoberfest actually starts on September 19 and ends on October 4, so going there in October might be a tad too late. wink

Octoberfest and I are polar opposites.

Book now.

It's packed, so make sure you get a ticket and hotel before it's all taken.

Bring your good mood and take care of each other. And have lots of fun.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Try one of the smaller airports nearby and take a train in.

And unless it just HAS to be THE Oktoberfest at the Wiesn, I would consider one of the many smaller events around Bavaria. Cheaper, shorter lines... Either way, have fun!

Guess I picked a bad year to quit drinking...

When I travel to Europe I've always tried to land in London or Amsterdam to save on ticket prices. Once you're in you then switch to a regional carrier where flights are ridiculously cheap...

Cologne is my 2nd home an I HIGHLY recommend visiting there, the Cathedral is wondrous!

Travel by train, it's cheap and convenient. If you rent a car get a diesel, fuel is cheaper, better range and the modern diesels are sweet!

So... on the regional carrier Germanwings a flight from London to Stuttgart is 70 quid ($140) one way.

on Easyjet from London to Munich it's 127 Euro one way...

It's really all about getting onto the continent/UK once you're in it gets easier...
