I've never been to India, but the same things could happen in Kenya, where the police aren't exactly your best friend either- and other African countries as well, I guess. Anyway, I just want to wish you good luck and good karma and all that.

Final (I hope) update: the landlord went at the station and asked them how much they wanted, saying he'd pay if they promised never to come back. He expected them to ask for quite a sum.

2000 rupees they said.

That's 30 USD.

And he paid, and they were happy, and he says he thinks we'll never see them again.

One week of my life ruined and all this tension for 30 fucking bucks!!! falloff

As for the idea of making a big fuss about it through the media or anything (there is also an anticorruption office in India), this is simply not my home, I don't have the channels, I don't know the ways, it was not my money that was extorted anyway, it's just not my place. Would cops mess with me in France I'd sue their ass to hell but here, as Erin says the best is to let it go and if they ever show their face again I'm outta this crib for good.

Domainator it's really u Indians who have to fight for your rights, and I believe you must, and I believe you should, because all this corruption is crippling the whole country's economy, causing human rights abuse and is inderectly responsible for all the shit such as power cuts, but it's not a foreigner's place to make a revolution in a country that's not his own, I just don't feel legitimate to do so, nor is it worth my while because if I'm not happy I can just fly back home, something you Indians can't do and this is why they must address it, if not for yourself at least for your children.

Out of curiosity, are you going to continue to actually have sex with that girl?

If not, then you just made India an EVEN more hellacious place to live.

The number of Indian guys I know who have drowned into alcoolism because they couldn't get laid... I really met a lot of them, drinking alone or with friends indiferently, every evening after work.

I think sexual repression has an extreme negative impact on everyone in India, and certainly contributes to the high rate of rapes and children molestation as well, without mentionning all the people AIDS for having unprotected sex with prostitutes.

Yeah I know. Not ALL of them though, there's like 1% lol, but u have to reach the Westernized upper classes to meet them...

It's a pity BTW because Indian women r by far the most beautiful in the world in my book, but quite unreacheable sad

i'd guess the women of India are better off not letting some dude who's horny just use their bodies as in "getting laid". yes, eventually, open sexual expression is healthiest, but let's consider the context eh?

.

indian culture is still indian culture, no matter how horny you are and how much you want to westernize it and teach the gals to let dudes find sexual release by "getting laid" .

.

instead of judging the indian women you are remarking about, you might want to consider your own motives in this context?

.

you understand that by "getting laid" through casual sex swith a gal, when your intentions are simply to release your sexual pressure, you risk peramenently damaging a girl's reputation, rendering her unmarriagable in a culture which prizes chastity?

.

indian women have far fewer economic opportunities than their western counterparts. india is still quite repressive when it comes to womens' rights. marriage is still considered a worthy goal, for women in india.

.

many contemporary bollywood movies, considered 'slutty' by native indians, preach chasitity through their heroine's actions.

.

therefore, considering the above, you realize that by expecting women to accommodate your horny and judging them thereby, you are being just a teensy bit selfish in that regard?

.

it's not you, and it's not them. thousands of years of culture is to blame for this repression.

.

just my 2c

I actually don't "get laid", nor was I implying any of the things you say above, this is obviously a misunderstanding.

no offense to you intended, personally. i was referring to your earlier post above, in which you said:

my point is: as long as india continues to repress women's rights, it is useless to hope that indian women will embrace open, western-style sexual standards.

I think EVERYONE concerned should buy themselves a DVD of the movie "Pleasantville" (which I've talked about before on here), and simply show it to any prospective girl. That movie is a life altering movie. I've often considered doing this myself.

I'd be happy to given the opportunity smile

However there's something I must say and that's from numerous first hand experiences, things I've witnessed or being told by people I know: the thing is -I do not presume on YOU but just a warning if u ever travel in a Western country that it's not necessarily gonna be open bar so easily- most Indian men having zero experience with girls in general and Western girls in particular tend to behave like 13 year olds the minute flirting/seducing is at stake. Because of that, they often end-up being totally unable to score a single Westerner.

It's particularly obvious in cosmopolitan cities like here in Chennai or at touristy places. I'm talking very nice guys, mind you, not rude or macho or anything, just plain CLUMSY. They keep trying and they keep being shot down simply because unless you're a natural Don Juan, being popular with girls is a social process that takes years for a Western man to acquire, and practice starts when you're about 12 or 13 if not earlier in bloody primary school. Some people have it in their blood but for many it's only when you're about 30 that you're able to basically get more or less whomever you want (as long as there's a connection of course). That's 20-15 years to get there. For some people it takes even longer, and some will never truly achieve it. You can really see this when u get 30+ in the West, with yourself but also friends, all of a sudden things get much easier.

So it's not like all Western girls are going to sleep with ANYONE, and being physically attractive usually won't be enough, you gotta have the attitude, all those social skills that are needed not to freak 'em out. It's a common misconception from Indians that Westerners are "easy". Most, I'd say, will sleep with 10 to 30 guys in their lifetime, some will even score more than a few dozen, but the guys still go thru a very demanding selection process (if not, they'd have them by the hundreds, and honestly I've never met a girl who'd had sex with more than 100 guys).

Advice: move abroad (u get rid of the power cuts, too biggrin )

No fucking SHIT, huh? smile Actually, after my experiences abroad, I decided to spend some time in India WILFULLY, no matter how bad it got - *every* person I can think of - friends, schoolmates... EVERYBODY I knew from my childhood has left! And no doubt, carved out a great life for themselves in Singapore, or the US, or Japan, or where have you...! But *I* don't wanna quit. *Somebody* has to fix things around here, dammit! (sexual repression being one of those things, though I really don't see what I alone can do about that!!).

But, anyway, life in the West is SHITTIER than here, in a lot of respects, and I don't want to be in the middle of that.

BUT... I am also at the end of my tether HERE. There's nothing here - no industry, no jobs, no girls, just.... NOTHING! So - ultimately, you can't live in the West, and you can't live in the East. The only thing *I* can think of to do, is to flit and float about both - when India feels shit, go to France, when France gets on your nerves, come back, and so on. Of course, this is theory, the airfares alone would make this kind of lifestyle impossible,I think.... smile But really, I can't see any other way of tackling this state of affairs. Aww fuck, I don't know.

About power cuts - we haven't had any in AGES - I'm quite surprised to hear this from you - is it that bad in Chennai?

hey, can we talk by voice? can I orgnote you my number? smile

But *I* don't wanna quit. *Somebody* has to fix things around here, dammit! (sexual repression being one of those things, though I really don't see what I alone can do about that!!). I find this admirable, for one thing you can BLOG about everything from corruption to sexual repression, and use social networts. If more Indians'd do it I'm sure it'd slowly contribute to a faster change, too many Indian friends of mine just shrug about all the things that go wrong. If you can't take action, WRITE.

But, anyway, life in the West is SHITTIER than here, in a lot of respects, and I don't want to be in the middle of that. There are many drawbacks there too of course, there are reasons I got tired of it and chose to come here instead smile

BUT... I am also at the end of my tether HERE. There's nothing here - no industry, no jobs, no girls, just.... NOTHING! So - ultimately, you can't live in the West, and you can't live in the East. Aww fuck, I don't know. This is my dream on the long run, 6 months here, 6 months at home more or less, depending on mood. There r things I miss from home but when I'm home there are things I miss from here, so I need both... But like u at present money gets in the way sad

About power cuts - we haven't had any in AGES - I'm quite surprised to hear this from you - is it that bad in Chennai?

Actually yeah friends told me the other day that Delhi, Kolkotta and Mumbai are now power cuts free. Chennai is hell for that, in some parts (including of course where I live) we get them on a daily basis. I have an inverter so I don't really suffer from it actually, but I'm annoyed by them for the mere principle of it. That bitch chief minister of TN promised last May that if she was reelected TN would be free of power cuts on June 1st 2014. Not only it didn't happen but it didn't even IMPROVE a bit ever since. She deserves to meet a good ol' lathi.

hey, can we talk by voice? can I orgnote you my number? smile

There are actually few things that I hate more than talking on the phone, to me this infernal tool is only for "where are you?" and such quick exchanges. I'll be happy to add u on Facebook though and I quite enjoy chatting with pple in writing. Send me ur FB id by orgnote smile

when women have more rights and privileges, access to jobs nd health care, single moms able to provide for a child without being shamed and shunned, i think the real sexual revolution will begin for the women of india. and yes, i definitely agree people from india are just sort of naturally...hot.

i would love to travel to india by myself, there are a tons of plces i want to visit by train, around the country.
