Poltergeist remake

How did they manage to suck all the life, humor, and scary thrills out the original and create this soulless, flat remake? I like Sam Rockwell, but he seems to be underutilized here. And what's with all the whispery, "I'm so serious" acting going on here? No wonder I rarely go to the movies these days.

Some original classics are better off to never be remade/rebooted/reimaged. disbelief I consider Poltergeist as one example.

Wow! I thought this would NEVER happen, due to the curse that was supposed to be a part of the film. Don't think it's going to be as good as the original but I'm definately going to see it. Kinda bummed about who they chose to play the medium, which was orginally brilliantly played by the late, great Zelda Rubenstein.

Never was into the original, not because of "the curse" or anything like that. I never got the big whoop about the movie.

Yes, I stand by my words. Remaking an 80's classic like Poltergeist is going to be a huge mistake. It's only prove a point that Hollywood has run out of original ideas.

Next they'll reboot E.T.

Summer of '82... I saw E.T. five times in the theater, and I saw Poltergeist five times in the theater. My friends and I would alternate.

It was hilarious!
I remember seeing it in the theater in high school...
I watch it when I can catch it on cable, and it still cracks me up! biggrin

Hey. Maybe that's what they're going to do. Do a spoof kind of thing, they've done it to other classics. Can't imagine today's audience being that "horrified" by the old stuff.

I am glad they remade The Lord Of The Rings. That cartoon was bad.

As for this remake-it appears to be suffering from today's bs movie must haves. Just like the 80's movies suffered from the over the top explosions.
