Detroit's Walking Man

Tired of bad news? Me too.

This gentleman made it to work every day having to walk upwards of 21 miles a day.

A true test of perserverance and fortitude. He is an inspiration.

The great news? His GOFUNDME page is up to $300,000 and he has been gifted a 2015 Ford Taurus.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

This is a fantastic story, but I'm not surprised it's gotten no love around here.

They interviewed him on one of the local Detroit stations over the weekend. What a humble soul. And God bless the man who noticed him and decided to drive him to work. They are very good friends now. With all of the horrible things that happen in the Detroit area, it's such a breath of fresh air to hear a story like this.

What a great story! Thanks for sharing. Humans are, by and large, awesome and with all the bad news people like to report, we can forget how awesome we really are. Thanks again for such a great story!

Amen, brother!

Well, i guess real life had to get in the way of a great story... neutral

As a follow up: Robertson has approached local authorities and requested protection because he is in fear of his surroundings. He says neighbors are already asking him for money. This comes after another local man came up missing (eventually found dead) after winning $20,000 in a lottery. He has been moved out of the city of Detroit temporarily. His GOFUNDME page has raised $350,000 to date and he is meeting with financial advisors soon.

All dude did was have the tenacity to walk to work despite the obstacles. Now he needs to fear for his life? Too sad. But he strength of character will win out someplace else, my belief.

this is a fantastic story. to think that Mr. Robertson walked to work (21 miles) each work day for 10yrs is really praise-worthy.

also the 19yr who brought this story to national attention deserves an applaud.

mr robertson has set a great example of moving forward in his need to take care of himself inspite of his lack of situation.

i'm glad to hear he has received a car and three hundred thousand dollars from a fund started by the 19yr old.

good karma is like an angel on ones shoulder that awards a blessed dividend.
