OK, I just started watching it a couple days back, and...... Penny's not going to be an actress anymore.....? That was the entire magic of the show.... they conveniently glossed over that bit in the show with a lot of hogwash about Bernadette and whatnot..... DAMN! I'm feeling really sad....
I didn't read the previous thread about BBT on here by the way, so... please, I've only seen up till Episode 3 so please include spoilers if you reply....
I've not seen any of 8 yet but yes, the whole failing actress bit was her 'thing' and was always there to fall back on for laughs. TBH as much as i love the show i hope they don't go past series 10.

I thought the episode last season (?) with her and Will Wheaton on the ape-girl movie set was awesome. Especially when Wheaton said "Fire her, and I walk!".
Also, am I the only one that cannot help but pronounce "Will Wheaton" in the Stewie-from-Family-Guy manner. "Would you like some Cool Whip, Will Wheaton?"
Yeah I'd say the show is definitely on the tail end of it's run, but still better than most sitcoms out there.
I can see why Penny switched careers, as her character has many more storyline options working in an office setting with Bernie. But honestly, she's not the star of the show anymore - Sheldon clearly is. I envision Sheldon & Amy being the main focal point of the show from here on out. Penny & Leonard are played out.

^See I think they have devolved Sheldon so much hes unbearable to watch. He's just a self aborbed asshole.
Hasn't he always been that way? Actually his social skills have improved over time, and he's opened up and shown a vulnerable side that he never did at first. He's finally realizing he needs human interaction and will have to depend on others for some things.

They need a new episode with one of the moms (Christine Baranski or Laurie Metcalf).
I like to watch the show for the clothes. Both Mary Cooper (Sheldon's mom) and Amy Farrah Fowler have worn clothes from the company I work for. And one time, Penny wore a striped t-shirt that is hanging in my own closet.

The show would be much better if it was dealing with the deaths of Howard and Bernadette. Neither of those characters has ever been likable to me.
But on the other hand, Howard's voice and inflections are EXACTLY the same as a buddy of mine. And the stuff he says is pretty much what my buddy would say. If I close my eyes, it's almost as if my buddy is playing Howard, LOL.
Bernie is smokin' hot, if she wasn't so damn tiny she'd take all the attention away from Penny ... especially now that Penny has the hideous haircut.
Howard is my least favorite character, something about that haircut and purple/orange/red super-skinny jeans that just annoys the hell out of me.
Yes Sheldon is a jerk, but the catch is he doesn't know he's a jerk and he doesn't act like a jerk intentionally. He's just extremely confident, and has reason to be.
When you think about the most popular sitcom characters of all time, a large number of them are jerky. Hell, the entire cast of Seinfeld was as selfish and self-centered as can be ... that's what landed them in prison.

It never even occurred to me to watch it until it went into syndication. One day I got tired of the talking heads lying on the cable news shows and went looking for something else to watch.
When I watch tv I usually watch news, football and pbs....not much else.

The humor is intelligent and witty, that's what is so appealing. They drop so much knowledge in each episode it's impossible to not learn something from every show. But hey, the writer is Chuck Lorre - the best of the best. When his name is attached to something you know it's good.

I never watched it 'til it was on TBS, either. I was doing a lot of theatre when the show started (2007), so it slipped right past me. (The same thing happened with Downton Abbey - I never even knew that show existed until I saw a marathon of season 1 on my local PBS station.)
I love it, though. My favorite episode was, is, and always will be "The Adhesive Duck Deficiency."

I still love the show, but this season is boring to me. Where's Kripke? Leslie Winkle?... Sheldon and Will Wheaton are friends now.. No more crazy moms R.I.P. Howard's mom... I'm going to just chalk this up as a little flat line and keep watching.
