"If" trivia:

  • If Richard Linklater doesn't win the directing achievement award for Boyhood, he has to sue the Academy.
  • If Interstellar doesn't get the Visual Effects award, everyone alive, including me, would make sure that the Academy DEFINITELY has something against Christopher Nolan and his marvelous craft.
  • If Emmanuel Lezkebi doesn't get the Cinematography award (Even if he has won it last year for Gravity), The Academy should seriously take a dump and sit in it. For your information, Birdman was shot in ONE TAKE, which is alone Oscar-worthy.
  • If, by any chance, Selma got robbed in the Best Picture category, it wouldn't be a "racism" issue (Sarcasm)

That's it that I'm predicting lol lol lol Acting this year was marvelous, I think Keaton gave one of the best performance I've seen in a long time, at least since Joaquin in The Master. Though, Timothy Spall, which I think was even better, won't be nominated, but I put him there just in case the Academy goes "surprise" as it does every year.

wow, your predictions are pretty thorough. you went beyond the acting/directing categories. you don't think Bradley Cooper or Clint Eastwood will get a nod. No thoughts on Best Song? I think that may be the only thing Selma wins, Glory by Common and John Legend captures the essence of the the movie well even though its not prominently featured IN the film

I agree with most of those, based on the Globes, but I'm really hoping Mica Levi gets a nomination for her score to Under the Skin.

If you will, so will I

i thought that score was fantastic. it's probably a touch too 'different' to get a nomination, but i'd like to see it happen as well.

Wow, you did a super good job!! I'm impressed that you saw Rosamund Pike and Marion Cotillard getting nominated and Amy Adams getting snubbed. And you guessed Emma Stone! Seriously, you are really good at this!! You could tell Laura Dern surprised (and pleased) people when here name was announced. This year's show could be a good one!

Good work, Shawy89! clapping

One thing:

Although Birdman was (masterfully) made to look as though it were one continuous take, it was not. Still, the blocking to pull off the incredibly long takes (and the editing that stiched them together fairly seamslessly) is mighty impressive.

I wanted to love the movie but there was something missing for me. I really enjoyed it though so I guess that is enough.

surprised by the Selma snubs. I expected best actor and director noms although i didn't expect them to get them. SMH.

side note: wasn't Rosamund Pike's character in Gone Girl a bit derivative. i felt like i'd seen the deranged schizo chick done a thousand times. was it this time "she" had a good vehicle from a writing and directing standpoint? i wasn't that impressed with her performance.

I don't know if I "loved" it, but I was entertained all the way through and was greatly impressed with the ingenuity.

I hear AS is very good. And you can always count on Bradley Cooper for a nuanced performance. That guy takes his craft way seriously.

Have not seen Boyhood.
