Thanks to both of you. I had an appointment to see my doctor today, but this damn snow storm threw a wrench in my ability to get there. My biggest problem is my hypertension. It has been off the chain since mid December. My physician told me to contact him if my pressure rose above 150/90. My highest reading so far has been 186/100. I'm taking the medication prescribed but it's obviously not working. I called my doctor this morning and got the runaround from the hospital's appointment scheduler. I asked him to please transfer me so I could speak to my doctor. He transferred to a answering machine. If I don't hear from my doctor by the end of the business day, I am going to write a letter of complaint to the hospital medical director. This is a teaching university hospital where I used to work for 25 years. No matter. I'm still treated like a red headed step child. I am seriously considering just cutting all ties with these people because they could end up killing me with their lackadaisical attitude. I'm really feeling abandoned right now.

In the meantime eat no sugar, it will help lower the blood pressure. I told this to mum and she has been on meds for 30+ years but now doesn't need them any more.

I think I've only had flu once or twice in my life. Horrid! :Shake:
I'm the mistake you wanna make

Perfectly healthy 26-year-old newlywed started feeling flu symptoms on Monday, then developed sepsis from it and died on Friday. Nobody including her had a clue as to how she caught it. The flu ain't no joke, best to take as many precautions as possible.

I decided not to get a flu shot this year, no flu.

Didn't get a flu shot last year, no flu then either.

Got a flu shot 3 years in a row before that with me and my kids, we stayed sick and got the flu.

They can keep their flu shots.

thumbs up!

My parents are convinced that the flu shot also is meant to keep them from getting a cold. So no matter how many times I explain it to them, whenever they get a cold, they complain about having gotten a "bad flu shot".

lol pat

I think I've had the flu maybe twice in my life.

I wash my hands constantly, hold my breath whenever someone sneezes nearby (til I can move elsewhere) and the moment I feel getting sick, I start popping Vitamin C and Airborne.

I hope that I can keep this streak running. pray

When I get the flu, I am sick for like a month straight. My asthma KICKS my ass and I stay a mess....

I get a flu shot, I stay sick and get the flu. Different from a cold. The flu just knocks me OUT... I can't eat and my fevers are horrible, its painful and I am just a mess. Oh no... they can keep those shots.

My son ends up in the ICU each time he gets a flu shot... I wonder if we get the flu lining up for those shots because it seems like every person in the waiting room has some cough or mucus issue. Eww

lol Bless their hearts. Old folks can be a trip, huh? God bless 'em.

I'm feeling much better now although I swear those kids I'm schlepping back and forth to school are gonna be the death of me. The five year old is constantly coughing/sneezing, and I keep having to tell her to cover her mouth when she does that mess. Sometimes I want to scream at her to stop, but I don't want to frighten the lil cuss. Come on June 6! (last day of school)

I read recently that you should turn down your heater and have a more cold house, because cool air is actually better for you. Warmer air makes germs more plentiful and strengthens them.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

No, it's the opposite. Cold temperatures weaken the immunity system, which in turn makes us more susceptible to viruses. That's why the cold & flu season is always during the winter. wink

On a related note, Tom Brady's kids got really sick ... then his wife Giselle got really sick ... and now of course he's sick. He won't tip his hand by admitting whether or not he has the flu, but either way how ironic would it be if the Patriots lose the Superbowl because Tom Brady wasn't more of a germaphobe. lol
