RIP director Mike Nichols

http://m.bbc.com/news/ent...s-30129848

Mike Nichols was married to ABC News presenter, Diane Sawyer
Mike Nichols, who won an Oscar for directing the 1967 film The Graduate, has died aged 83.
The German-born US director was also Oscar nominated for his work on Working Girl, The Remains of the Day, Silkwood and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Nichols was one of only 12 stars to win all four major US entertainment awards - an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
His last film was 2007's Charlie Wilson's War, starring Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts.
The director was married to ABC News presenter Diane Sawyer - his fourth wife - whom he wed in 1988.
ABC News president James Goldston described Nichols as "a true visionary".
"No one was more passionate about his craft than Mike," he said.

Closer is one of my favorites. Seems like he was a very talented man. Rest in peace.

Who's Afraid Of Virgina Wolf, is my favorite Mike Nicholas movie.

I watch it from time to time and I still discover something new... its deep on so many levels.

Its unfortunate Mr. Nichols' didn't work with Ms. Taylor again, he respected her and her acting ability. Because of this Nichols had a clear understanding of what Taylor could do and got the best out of her. When Ace mentioned his favorite film Closer... there's a common thread running through his films.

It dawned on my The Graduate, How's Afraid of Virgina Wolf, Closer; Mr. Nicholos had a talent for exploring the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. He didn't go for the cookie cutter simplistic trap that too many films follow. Nichols' peeled back layers to see what made people tick, sometimes it was hilarious and sometimes it was revealing.

If a Fool remakes Nichols classic "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?" who do you guys think should play the role? I'd Gamble on Sandra Bullock...

I have to think about that... hmmm

I think Ms. Taylorher put a stamp on the boozed-up, neurotic, with a sharp tongue Martha. lol

Sandra Bullock, seems too nice, too ontained to play Martha but its called acting so, maybe she could pull if off.

I know, it's a big maybe but I like her acting in "The Blind side" & "Gravity"....She needs some serious Gut-wrenching-Meat to chew on...Playing a drunk would garner her a 2nd Oscar...
