cool Wow...

My mother iron some patches on an old pair of overalls, tied my hair up with a bandana, with my "goody bag" attached to a stick, and sent me on my way. lol

That is pretty amazing. Simple, not too busy. Had no idea that a kid could be under there when the vid started!

I am in the middle of making a Transformer costume (Soundwave) for my son. It won't actually transform but it's a hell of a lot of work getting all the boxes cut and taped and all the details correct.

The first Halloween costume I can honestly remember was a Hagar the Horrible outfit like this;

I think I was in kindergarden. For most of my youth though, Halloween meant going to Woolworth's and picking out a costume that was basically a plastic mask (that always got hot & sweaty with your breath ill ) with a vinyl suit that came in a box.

Last year my daughter made her own costume out of old clothes and accessories (she was a zombie vampire) ...but the year before, I spent almost $100 on her Mad Hatter outfit!!!
I can't believe the price of costumes nowadays. A wig alone is like $25.

All that...and Hurricane Sandy left our neighborhood a mess, so she couldn't even trick or treat with any of her friends.
neutral

For the most part they like to make their own costumes using old clothes and accessories like wigs, fangs & face paint.

Wow, your daughters costume is great!

Wigs can be pretty pricy, but you're better off paying around $25 as the quality is much nicer and they last longer so they can be used on future halloween costumes. One of my other hobbies (apart from being obsessed with Prince, haha) is cosplaying, so I've pretty much been to hell and back with long wigs.

hug Thanks. This year she's "too old" to go trick-or-treating, so it leaves only my youngest.

OK, in my neck of the woods we had typhoon / hurricane weather.... eek No, I don't leave live on either coast, I'm talking about freakin' Lake Michigan. disbelief

This mess happens every #@$@@@!!!! year. Halloween should have a back up day, if the first day sucks, the kids should come out the next day. The little little kids started ringing my bell at 3:00pm maybe about an hour later... trees and such were flying past the houses and the sand from the beach was smaking folks in the face. WTF!

A lot of our area kids did come out tonight and I was able to dump/unload two garbage cans worth of candy into their bags.

If have time, I'll post what it was like yesterday.... crazy.
