I haven't followed baseball too closely, but the Nationals seemed stacked.

I'd like to see the Dodgers win only so Don Mattingly can finally experience a World Series. The poor guy was snake bit when he played for the Yankees missing their mini-dynasty runs before he started and after he left by one year each time.

Today's game and starting pitchers:

AL WILD CARD GAME:

KANSAS CITY ROYALS VS. OAKLAND ATHLETICS

Oakland (Jon Lester, 16-11, 2.46 ERA) at Kansas City (James Shields, 14-8, 3.21 ERA), 8:07 p.m. ET, TBS

I'd also like to make note of the geographical vicinities of many of the teams. There could be a Beltway World Series between the Orioles and Nationals. Or an I-70 Series between the Cardinals and Royals. Or a Freeway Series between the Dodgers and Angels. And Pittsburgh is not that far away from Detroit either. It's an embarrassment of riches for some areas of the country this year.

Edit: I forgot about a Bay Bridge series between the A's and Giants. The regional rivalry matchup possibilities this year are ridiculous.

And FOUR California teams! That's overkill. What happened Padres? Couldn't you guys make the postseason too?

Still rooting for the Giants and a Bay Bridge series vs the A's. biggrin Both are in wild card positions so we just have to wait less than 30 something nerve-wracking hours to see if that possibility will continue. Interesting no NY or Boston this time.

Both Bay Area teams will be playing their wild card games on the road too making it extra hard for them to advance.

Crazy game. Oakland had so many leads, but gave them away every time.

I'd like to see the O's go to the World Series. In the last couple years baseball has really come back to life in this city; going all the way would really be the icing on the cake.

I want an I-70 World Series so they can bring Don Denkinger out of retirement and the St. Louis fans can finally stop bitching about that one call in the 1985 World Series, LOL.

I'm so glad this game wasn't torture. Great team effort with Madbum and the Brandon's Belt and Crawford and everyone doing their part! Now onto Washington!! I really want to go to a game when they come back home.

I give you hardcore Pirates fans credit for still supporting your team throughout the playoffs even though they were eliminated last night. lol
