Derek Jeter is THE MAN! What a storybook ending to last night's game! Hollywood couldn't have scripted it any better. We were at a restaurant, sitting at the bar (still celebrating the end of rush, LOL) and I told my wife that I was going to stand up and applaud when Jeter left the game.
But it went into extra innings, so they left Jeter in. You can guess what I did when he got that base knock. Damn right! I was shouting, jumping, and high-fiving anyone I could find!
Jeter's got three more games left, which will be in Boston's Fenway Park. There is no way I'm going to miss the last one on Sunday. I can't wait to see how the Beantowners say goodbye to one of the greatest men to ever step on a diamond.
Hat's off to Derek Jeter for showing the world how to be a great player on the field, and a great man off it! |

I really dislike the Yankees but I think even haters agree. Jeter is awesome! He did so many things perfect. What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet? |

Well, I've heard off the field he's as big a ho-chaser as Jordan. Remember the story of him having two chicks in a Miami hotel room, and the next morning they got pissed because he wouldn't pay for their parking?
Unless you have a personal relationship, you don't know what these cats are like off the field, court, gridiron, etc. It's all image and PR, man. That's why I don't go for the role model bs. I just care about gameday performance.
I'm glad the "Jeter Watch" is finally over. Six months of this shit - the media always takes something and does it to death. Since it's NYC, multiply it x1000. Great player? Yeah, but not on the level of Mays or Aaron. |

I'm pretty sure he has more hits and world series titles than both of those legends.
Just sayin'.

I've never really cared for him, always thought he was the most overrated player in the game. That being said, DJ is the all-time hits leader for the New York Yankees. The New York friggin Yankees. Do I need to list the Hall of Famers and icons who have worn pinstripes? I don't think so. Some will argue that he's the hits leader because he played there for 20 years, etc, and you can argue that he wasnt a power hitter blah blah blah...bottom line - CONSISTENCY is the essence of baseball, and Derek Jeter is one of the most consistent players to ever play the game. Respect is due. All that being said...GO DODGERS! Make it so, Number One... |

Always bring your own stash and if you don't respect yourself, who will. |

Jeter passed Mays in total hits awhile ago, but Hank Aaron actually tops him (#3 all-time). And yes, Jeter has more World Series rings than Mays and Aaron combined.
But why were Mays and Aaron even brought up in the first place? No one in this thread said he was better than them.

I don't get your point.
A role model doesn't mean he's supposed to be abstinent.
Tiger Woods & Jordan were married. Derek Jeters isn't.

Now that The Pope is gone, all the annoying, arrogant Yankee fans have to talk about during the off-season is A,-Rod. |
