The year was 2005

No tablets... no smartphones... some people were still on dialup internet... other than some tech changes, the western world is basically the same culture now as we were then. Reality shows had already started (Survivor, Big Brother, Idol, Dancing). The EU had 25 member states not today's 28. A few years before the economic crash so credit was flowing more freely with fewer questions before loans. ... Battlestar Galactica was a miniseries for geeks rather than modernly culturally recognizable... OBL was alive somewhere in Pakistan.

American Idol was the most watched show in America. Luther Vandross and Johnny Carson died. Youtube was brand new and wasn't embeddable on message boards. Bittorrent was just starting to get popular. Playstation 2 was the bees knees of gaming. The WB and UPN still existed. The last full calendar year when movies were released on VHS tapes. Beyonce only had one album and people were allowed to admit they didn't like her or her music. Brokeback Mountain was released which to this day is freqently brought up and made fun of by tasteless people. Most people still had Windows XP. And uh....

Revenge of The Sith...

And I wasn't balding and a hundred pounds lighter.
