iPhone Question

My son bought a 6 and gave me his 5s. The T-mobile store took my contacts from my old Android phone and placed them on my new 5s. But, I then had his contacts and my contacts together. I deleted his contacts one by one, but it turns out that he was still signed in to the 5s. When I deleted them, it got rid of them from his 6 also.

He had never backed up his contacts to the cloud.

I contacted both T-mobile and Apple...neither one could help.

I see there are programs out there that claim they can restore data....have any of you tried using these? Any other suggestions to restore his contacts?

Thanks.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Revolution, that's a question you should probably put to the Apple forum...

Word of advice...

Companies that claim they can restore deleted data, fix application errors , driver issues, or whatever...

If they don't list a price on their website front page, pass them up. These sites say download our software to fix X, Y or Z for "free"... more often than not it is virus/malware in disguise. Besides, "software" like this is very hard to clean/clear off your computer. It can make your computer / phone vulnerable in the furture to virus/malware or "highjacked" attacks.

I ask some of my iphone-heads and see if its possible to recover your son's deleted contacts.

Thanks much TD3!

I asked on the Apple forum.

Apple or PC. When' was the last time he connected / backed-up his iPhone to iTunes? If his contacts are on his computer, he should be able to import his contacts into his new iPhone. If they aren't on his computer... his contacts are gone. I have one more tech spot I'm waiting for them to chime in...

They also said (as I thought), third party tools are a rip, they don't work. I tried to checkout one website and my malware/virus alarms went OFF. lol Most third party software when it works, the geeks have a way getting that info through the grapevine. I've never heard anyone say Wondershare, Recovery iPhone software, or the countless others data recovery software works.

P.S. Nope, once deleted - if not backed-up- contacts can't be retrieved.

Absolutely! I was complaining to my buddy about this, but he wasn't trying to hear it. I need to go to the Apple Store tomorrow so they can help me straighten out our accounts...because I was the lone holdout in the family until now, my wife signed in to her iPhone and iPad using my ID and password. Now that she wants to create her own account, it's telling her that her email has already been used in setting up an account. It's all so confusing...we spent all weekend trying to fix problems, and got nowhere. Frustrated. The only reason I'm still interested is because I put my classic iPod in the washing machine a week ago and I need somewhere to store some music.

Love the people ripping on Apple over this - when absolutely none of it is their fault. lol

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I know it's my/our fault, however, you seem to be missing the point. Apple is VERY user unfriendly. As a matter of fact, I wanted to use one of their "geniuses" to help me solve my issues. I can't get in until Thurs evening! they told me that there was no way to get the contacts back....however....

GREAT NEWS! I am still signed in under my son's name on the 5, but using the phone as if it were mine. I randomly went to search contacts to start a new text message, and all of my sons contacts were there! He is loading his phone as i'm typing.
