Facebook -- for rich people

I received an inviation 2 this and thought it was a joke.....until I goolged it.

I'll bet a lot of folks bite on this.

Facebook -- for rich people (for just $9,000)

Doug Gross, CNN
Netropolitan is the creation of James Touchi-Peters, former conductor of the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra.
Netropolitan is the creation of James Touchi-Peters, former conductor of the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
  • New social site, Netropolitan, targets the wealthy
  • The site costs $9,000 to join, then $3,000 per year
  • It's founded by James Touchi-Peters, a composer and conductor
  • He says it's basically an online country club

(CNN) -- Would you enjoy social media more without all those pesky 99-percenters complaining about their mortgage payments and high cable bills?

For a mere $9,000, Netropolitan is here to help.

Launched Tuesday, Netropolitan bills itself as "the online country club for people with more money than time."

Seriously.

To join, users must pony up $9,000 for dues and a membership fee, then another $3,000 per year after that.

If it all seems like a joke -- an elaborate ruse in an age when Facebook, Twitter and a host of other social networks are free -- the man behind the idea assures you it is not.

babynoz

We're already paying for the privilege of being spied on by our various gadgets...now they're raising the price?

Some status oriented chump will go for it.

Good. Think of it as a tax on snobbery.

These motherfuckers only want to sit around jerking each others tiny, tiny dicks off to how rich they are, they may as well pay out the ass for the privilige. More money than time? Try more money than sense.

Btw James Douchi-Peters, there is no way your "online douchebag club" isn't getting hacked to hell and back. Enjoy the hardcore gay porn. Asshole.

I'm curious to know - what exactly is it going to have that the others don't.....? Like features or such.....?

Surely if anyone is paying all that money, they want to get something in return...?

I think it can be useful for some things like what you said or keeping in touch with family abroad, but it's gotten so ridiculous that I just can't stand it. Twiiter is even more stupid IMO. We live in a world of texting drones. I could slap the large majority of them.
