His lawyer issued a statement saying Peterson used the same discipline that he (Peterson) grew up with as a child in East Texas.

I've been reading the comments of the folks in the TMZ article and it seems like about half are saying innocent until proven guilty or saying that perhaps one of his baby mamas is scheming to get money somehow...this will be interesting to see what happens.

This is real talk, TMZ is really declaring an information war on the NFL in 2014-15.

I'm all for old school discipline, but sounds like this was excessive.

My maternal grandmother down south had one of those long-ass green hickory switches. She would tear your legs UP, and that switch would be cutting wind too. Back in the day, old folks didn't play. At home, Dad handled most of the discipline. We weren't spanked that often - the threat of getting hit with the belt kept us from doing too much dumb shit.

So what should his punishment be?

Wow...I would have never thought that the whoopings I got back in the day would be considered child abuse when I became an adult. Where was all this when I was getting my ass tore up? If they were locking up parents for ass whoopings when I was a child, my mother would be sent straight to the damn chair...

So did my parents, but they never crossed the line.

^ Yeah, that's extremely excessive. I used to get my behind whooped with a switch too but never to the point where I bleed and from what I've read Peterson also took the leaves off the switch and stuffed them in the child's mouth, I'm guessing to keep him from screaming. That's some real twisted shit right there. eek

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

It's really unfortunate that this happened, but how many months do we have to talk about this situation now?

what the hell is going on with this site lately?

so whipping a child with a switch leaving marks like that, and stuffing leaves in his mouth is an acceptable level of discipline to you?

Honestly, I really REALLY don't care what people do with their kids, that's their business, but things do get blown out of proportion on here just because people are so quick to jump up for or create some kind of cause bandwagon. So should we start pouring water on ourselves for this too? I could see if he shot the kid or something. Switch marks are nothing. They heal, and hopefully, the child is disciplined.

Are there any pictures or video of leaves being stuffed into the child's mouth?

i think it's best if you never have responsibility for disciplining a child

if you draw blood when you discipline your kid, that is abuse. if he was that angry, he should have not punished the kid at that time.
